Bizarre Creations farewell video is legitimately sad

Just buy the damn studio Microsoft! Out of the companies you bought, Bizarre is one of the studios that has proven itself again and again! BLur might not have been the hit Activision was looking for but hell, it was a decent game!

@colinisrad

Nba Jam is not a Sega property. EA owns that now.

What if Kratos were in every game?

THQ and Kaos defend 6 month 'crunch' for Homefront

@PR0F3TA

To be absolutely blunt, it sounds like you really don't know much about the game industry. Some game companies are pretty decent about it and provide incentives during the crunch time, but some simply force you to do work.

Imagine if you will, you come in and are informed that crunch time has begun. You are now expected to show up at 9-10am, and if you try to leave at 6-7pm you get a very subtle "Leave if you like, no guarantees your job is still here in the morning." So you stay until you start seeing people leaving around 9-10pm, if not midnight. You are discouraged from having any sort of social life, and if meals are provided, often they are cold and just not good for you, with no other options in sight.

You see the higher ups laughing it up and heading off at 5pm but since you're essentially a grunt, you don't get to leave until you're exhausted. If you suffer any kind of stress issue, or health issue triggered by stress, prepare for the worst as you dine on tums, or get increasingly paranoid you are going to be fired for sneaking that bag of potato chips.

Now imagine that happening anytime the company wants. Such as 365 days a week until the game is finished. Game company employees are far too often treated like disposable assets that can be used up and replaced on a whim.

Sorry, it sucks but they deal with this far more often than you would expect. The EA Spouse situation actually made things worse in some ways because now they try and keep it secret that they are treating employees like this.

Video: Mileena gets stab-happy in Mortal Kombat

Stabby is certainly a word. Well if it isn't, it damn well should by. Write to the Webster's people.

The ref seems very... tame. The voice over guy seems like a better choice for the ref voice actually. With a little work, he could pull off a Shao Khan voice I think. Maybe a bit more inflection?

PlayStation Phone reportedly caught on (very clear) video

Ladies and gentlemen, PSP games are a nice touch, but think of the other aspect of the dpad with buttons. Full blown emulation with SNES, Genesis, amongst other classic game systems. Because it's android, you can get the emulators for almost anything plus sideload those roms to the system. Playstation, Master System, Genesis, Super Nintendo, Nintendo, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, and so on.

This is my dream portable device made real.

I had to stop using the MGS alert for my text notifier. The damn thing would scare the crap out of me every time it went off. It was fine when I noticed it vibrating before the sound, but if I didn't, it would be almost code brown. I changed it to the 1up from Sonic.

Sony says lack of cellular connection limits PSP, 'gamers aren't satisfied' with smartphone titles

Oct 29th 2010 3:32PM (Joystiq)
I'm praying they can map the d-pad controls to the various emulators available on Android. It's essentially a glorified keyboard really. I mean, SNES, Genesis, Nintendo, various incarnations of the Gameboy, and even no doubt because of the openness of the Android market, a Playstation emulator or a Dreamcast emulator? The thing is as powerful as a PS2 at least from the specs. No doubt there will be PsPhone specific titles but time waster games are perfect with the pause when you want aspects of the majority of the emulators. You can save a game state at any point so you won't lose out on an important Shining Force battle or get interrupted in an old school SF round.
