Can't you see what Sony's doing? They're rewarding early adopters. By taking away features, nobody who bought the system in its young age can complain about getting the raw end of the deal. They're rewarding consumers.

So let's constantly complain about how companies always screw those over consumers who adopt early, then crucify them when they finally reward us. Nice job, Joystiq. Way to ruin it for the reast of us.

Bungie talks Halo 3 push to talk and more

@12

We're morons? You'll come off sounding better if you attack the argument of a person and not the person making the arguement.

It's not whiny people we want to block, I agree, we can mute those who act a'fool. It's the average XBOX Live user with his ceiling fan blowing so hard that his microphone emits a constant stream of static. It's for the people who talk on their phones/roommates and are too lazy to mute their microphones. These aren't bad people. I don't like muting them, they might actually have something to tell me that relates to the game. With push to talk, I don't have to worry about it.

In fact, if I had to mute everybody for every inconsiderate action I experience on open mic games like CoD4, there'd be nobody left to talk to.

But then again, maybe you're right. You can't stop people from acting uncivil, but I sure believe push to talk helps people hide their stupidity.

F.E.A.R. sequel title finalists need your vote

Those are the names? They might as well go with "Generic Horror Game", hell, that actually would be more original than those names.

Bungie talks Halo 3 push to talk and more

Aug 9th 2007 6:28PM (Joystiq Xbox)
How can you be against push to talk? The only bad thing about it was it was mapped to the D-Pad instead of the X button. We talk more than we use anything like the bubble shield, so why should the talk button be harder to get to?

When you play other XBOX Live games, all you hear is constant feedback from other players microphones who don't realize or care. Plus, you get people talking to their roommates/moms who aren't considerate enough to use their mute. I also hate muting people who are broadcasting static/useless chat because even though they're discourteous, they might have something useful to say that pertains to the game later. Think of Push To Talk as an auto-mute of useless chat/static.

The SOCOM games for the PS2 have not only push to talk, but they have it where only one person can talk at a time. This cuts down on BS, because if anybody hogs the microphone, players can easily place a vote against them that goes toward booting them from the server. Halo needs a democratic system for kicking players off of a server like that, but that's a different issue all together.
