Visceral Games prepping DLC for Dante's Inferno

Jan 31st 2010 2:02PM (Joystiq)
Apparently the newest spoiler on the street is that Dante dies at the end of Inferno, Beatrice was an illusion created by Lucifer, and Lucifer himself actually lives, though with less minions than he had before.

I'd say that it's nice to see Visceral ripping off of their own plot elements, but in retrospect, it's actually not.

'The Inferno' for iPhone shows how to adapt Dante's Inferno

The game looks like it ripped of the classic CD-I game, Zelda's Adventure, as well as Frogger II: Swampy's Revenge.

Other than that, I still don't know where "betrayal" fits into the whole Inferno deal, both this Inferno game and EA's Inferno. Beatrice died of natural causes, not from some jealous lover or whatever.

Dante's Inferno producer hopes for sequel, despite challenges

Dec 14th 2009 7:35PM (Joystiq)
Just a note: It's not gonna matter if this game sells three million or three hundred. There will always be that one YouTube commenter who says "best gaem evar!!!1", and that will be enough to coerce EA to spend another seven million dollars on Dante's Purgatorio. Repeat the process again, and you have Dante's Paradiso. How they'll make a hack-and-slash out of THAT book, I'll never know.

I think the problem is, by trying (yes, they tried. At least they kept the nine layers of Hell categorized correctly) to be faithful to the book, they forgot that they might actually be able to make a sequel for the game. Once they've killed Lucifer, there's not much else to go through. They can't kill anybody in Purgatory because there's nobody there. The final boss in Paradise would have to be God, but that's already the plot twist in my idea for a Divine Comedy game series.

At this point, EA isn't even trying to appeal to the anti-Inferno gamers. They're all "eh, screw them, we'll still sell this game after the tits we showed off in the demo."

See, the problem with your ideas is that it'd be AWESOME to play a GoW clone with those settings. It's called irony.

EA's Dante's Inferno is NOT ironic. Not only is it a gameplay clone, they try to make it more broody and more dark than God of War was. It's like Spider-Man 3, but without the jazz club.

Oh, yeah, I LOVED the Dead Space animated TV series. Necky was my favorite character, even though he was just made to sell plush toys.

There's a version of Tetris out there that actually analyzes your board and then gives you a piece that you DON'T need. So if you manage to get a full column free, you'd probably never get a...
