Jaffe swears off blogging ... was it something we said?

May 2nd 2007 11:23PM (Joystiq)
The New York Times analogy is a good one to use. I'm not suggesting the weblogsinc connection has to do with banner adverts. That would be fine. As you say, everyone has adverts. I'm referring to blogs as advertising which, fellow readers, you should do some research into because this is going on in spades. Weblogsinc is a major intermediary between advertisers seeking bloggers to hype their wares, and bloggers seeking an income.

SO, back to the NYT. Yes, if I were to ever find out a front page NYT ARTICLE about PS3, Wii, or 360 was there because someone paid for it to be there, I would say they had no journalistic integrity. That's the shit you guys are up to, and you can read through the weblogsinc site to a get a very good feel for it.

Agree that Jaffe comment was immature and silly. I get the feeling CAC is now GOW and he's having issues coming to grips.

But I side with him over Joystiq. This place is a joke. Horrible writing but worst of all is that they are paid my marketeers to write articles. Check it out: weblogsinc.com.

Hmm...there's some journalistic integrity for you.

Question for you Ross (goes for other joystiq bloggers as well but have to start somewhere). I learned about payperpost recently, and that new disclosure requirements have been established by payperpost in anticipation of FTC legistlation.

Are you paid to make product-based posts via payperpost or any other service? If so, where would such a disclaimer be posted?

Sony marketers are horrible liars, pretend to run fansite

Dec 11th 2006 7:53PM (Joystiq)
Agree this is quite silly.

That said, there is a certain irony to reading about corporate advertising masked as fan-interest on Joystiq of all places. This site as only slightly more journalistic credibility than the Korean News Agency. Joystiq has proved time and time again that it is more interested in harming PS3 than reporting about it. How many headlines such as "Sony is a bunch of liars" does one have to read before getting suspicious of Joystiq's true intent. I find myself wondering how many MSFT bloggers are at work.
