RIftVault - Spawn of Yojimbo and Delicious Library?

Jun 3rd 2008 10:51AM (TUAW.com)
Agreed. You can't even create your own kind of entry in this mess. True, Wallet isn't terribly flashy, but it does stick to a very Mac aesthetic. I get the feeling this thing was thrown together very quickly to appeal to Delicious Library owners.

What happens if I want to keep my Serial Numbers for my electronics? Or registration numbers for apps I've purchased? Wireless network keys? Email account servers and logins? Car VIN numbers? Social security numbers? I've got all of that and more in Wallet. Apparently the makers of this software think we've only got five kinds of secure information, and THAT'S IT!

Final Note:
It certainly sounds like they stole the sound effects from the login window from Star Trek. Am I the only one hearing this?

Whoops. Hit reply on the wrong comment. Sorry.

TUAW Review: Dreamweaver CS4 beta

@ Adam
Agreed. I'm not even a professional designer, and I use Pixelmator at home for things that aren't as important, but even I can see that neither Gimp nor Pixelmator have anywhere near the power of Photoshop.

Not that I'm saying everyone needs photoshop, and I will concede that for most people these alternatives may have more than enough features. But to say no one ever needs any of Adobe's tools is rediculous.

Ask Engadget HD: Which gaming console suits HD junkies best?

NOTE: This is not the same Matt as immediately below. I actually READ the post before commenting.

Hey! Read the question! He's basically saying, BESIDES Blu Ray playback, which is the better HD experience. Don't make yourself look stupid. Oops, too late.

Ask Engadget HD: Which gaming console suits HD junkies best?

May 28th 2008 11:57AM (Engadget HD)
If the criteria here is a great HD experience, than you might as well discount the Wii. Not that it doesn't have some fantastic games and isn't innovative, but it's not going to be an HD experience.

Between the Xbox 360 and PS3, it's really a tossup. Go check out Gamespot's graphics comparisons to give you an idea of how they stack up:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6191251/index.html?tag=topslot;title;5&om_act=convert&om_clk=topslot

In the end they both offer fantastic graphics. It all depends on the games, really. Some look a little better on the 360, some look a little better on the PS3 and some look identical. Look for games you want to play, whichever system they are on, buy that one.

Infinite Undiscovery finds release date and trailer

Seriously, what is going on with those character models? At first the castles and long epic shots looked awesome, but after seeing everything else in the trailer it's clear those are pre-rendered.

The textures are AWFUL!

An evening with Uwe Boll's Postal

May 13th 2008 10:34AM (Joystiq)
Good point. Even if Postal isn't the worst movie in the world, it's certainly bad. And non-gamers don't know that the game Postal is pretty much ignored by most gamers.

People who are unexposed to the great stories in gaming won't be won over by this hack's movies. Where are the movies that accurately and artistically retell Grim Fandango, Halo, God of War or Half Life? If Boll keeps working they'll never get made, or if they are made they'll be done very cheaply by untalented directors.

BBFC rating confirms Alone in the Dark's spookiness

May 8th 2008 11:32AM (Joystiq)
Well, the one good thing is that it sounds like the BBFC is actually PLAYING these games. Otherwise how could it have judged that the violence seemed at least contextually appropriate? On this side of the atlantic the ESRB doesn't even bother to play the games it's rating. Kind of ridiculous.
