Wii Warm Up: Have you regretted the lack of DVD playback?

Sep 20th 2007 2:51PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
dvd + xvid playback (and network browsable shares for video) would have been a killer app.

Zombie Massacre would be rad if it was made

Possible unedited copy of Manhunt 2 leaked

Already downloaded from news.
Shame the wii version didn't leak.

And I'm very happy it has leaked, censorship in any form is an insult.

Nintendo UK rep responds to rumors of WiiConnect24 damaging consoles

Jul 19th 2007 7:04PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Can you people saying "there's no problem", "put your wii in a more ventilated area",etc. stop being so naive and selective in your reasoning.

Firstly, the defect is there, whether its caused by wiiconnect24 is a point of contention but the artifacts are clearly caused by overheating. The wii does get very hot if you leave it on wiiconnect24 for a couple of weeks without play, and with the lack of big games after zelda and before RE4 this is why people are noticing it now. It requires a graphically intensive game to see it at first, but it gets worse to the point of being persistant even on menu systems.

Next, if you don't have a graphically intensive game with heavy effects like RE4 just stop gibbering. I only noticed the defect after months of standby time when i picked up a copy of RE4 wiimake, and can not see it in wii play, wii sports, etc. because they don't push the console.

I have a launch wii, and it has developed this defect. i can evidence everything, from the presense of the defect, to the ventilation of the wii system, to the amount of time on standby its had (screens of the calenders). That's if its such a ball ache to at least consider the fact there maybe a defect with a large number of wii units, or possibly with all wiis but dependant on the use of the system, the use of wiiconnect24 and the length of time its left on standby at high heat.

On to my real point; I reported the problem with my wii on 08/07/2007 to nintendo uk and yet this guy says nobody in the uk has reported it. I REALLY doubt that i am the only one that has reported the problem.

This is very dissappointing, and I think its in everyone's interest that this issue is fixed/addressed, and the warranty extended, or there's going to be a hell of a lot of pissed off people when the graphically intensive mario galaxy and metroid prime 3 come out.

Once again, please consider the fact that this might be a severe problem for users that are using the wii exactly as it was designed. Also take into account, in the uk we have to pay to ship the thing back to nintendo too.

Rumor: Shadowman on its way to the VC

Nov 30th 2006 5:17PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
omg! awesome news... still got my n64 cart of this. Although its not a perfect game i really enjoyed this morbid game... was really awesome.

The psx version was rubbish, but the n64 and pc versions were great, as was the dreamcast version.

I remember this being one of the first games to rip off the zelda z-locking system which was a good thing :)
