NXE leaked, disables Xbox Live until Nov. 19

Nov 2nd 2008 11:48AM (Joystiq)
bleh, gears 1 was crap and gears 2 doesn't look much better. the first one was only remotely fun on the PC anyways with proper control. other than that it was a simplistic mediocre shooter. cliffy b fails yet again.

meh, who cares. xbox live is a crap service anyways. what kind of idiot in there right mind would accept having to pay for online gaming, especially when it's M$, a company with nearly unlimited resources. i played games online for 8 years before the xbox came out for free. simply put if you're stupid enough to pay to play games online, you're going to get stuck with playing the worst games online.

How Halo 3 fixes Halo 2 multiplayer

In response to 73.
It's funny how much you use the world noob so much when you seem to be playing the biggest noob FPS there is quite a bit. Halo is for noobs. Nuff said.

Halo 3 case mod is ... erm ... backwards

Oh well, atleast he didn't cut a part a good console.

360 Metal Gear Solid 4 solidly denied

Dec 18th 2006 9:40PM (Joystiq Xbox)
In reply to number 12. Splinter is terribly boring. Has no replay value and some of the most uninteresting stories I've seen in any game. Metal Gear has the story down pat, the gameplay is classic and arcadey but still realistic. Just not over the top realistic.

In reply to 13. ROFL. I never saw that post but Halo wouldn't have looked hardly any worse on the PS2 if given the right team to port it. But who cares, Halo is the most craptastic series of games, especially FPS games ever conceived. Compared to 99% of the FPS games to come before Halo on the PC, Halo was very very dated in it's design. Terribly monotanous single player campaign with very little to keep the player wanting to carry through it. It had the most boring and unimaginative level design I've seen in a shooter. It's multiplayer was even more of a step backward. How it's weapon respawn works is a complete joke. Recharging health. Again god awful map design. Terrible player movement and control physics. It felt like an amateur mod team's and I mean very amateur attempt at a total conversion for Quake 3.

360 Metal Gear Solid 4 solidly denied

I knew it would never make it to the 360. It's a matter of design really. The MGS series has always been designed with the Playstation hardware in mind. It's designed to work best with the Playstation joypad (which is and always will be supperior to the xbox/360 hunks of crap). They tweak the graphics and art style too look the best on the Playstation hardware. A port to the 360 would mean having to go back over the entire game to dumb down it's graphics, AI, and physics engine to work with the 360's weaker hardware. It wouldn't be worth the effort in the end because you wouldn't be able to put the same game on weaker hardware.

Crazy rumor of the day: MGS4 on 360

Dec 17th 2006 11:43PM (Joystiq Xbox)
In reply to 21.
Your the kind of gamer thats partly responsible for all the crappy games coming out. Graphics don't mean anything, they are the least important part of any game. Horrible control scheme??? God. The Xbox and 360 controllers are the absolute most god awful hand cramping uncomfortable controllers out there. There too thick. Too big. The analog sticks suck ass and are misplaced. The buttons are rounded which is just retarded. The Dpad is utterly useless on it.

Crazy rumor of the day: MGS4 on 360

Dec 17th 2006 11:37PM (Joystiq Xbox)
The fact remains that the PS3 is capable of a lot more graphical and other design options than the 360 is. The architecture of the Cell processor allows for it to have much more complex AI routines, far more advanced physics and much much larger scale worlds than the 360. In response to 11, you obviously are just some 12 year old kid that doesn't actually know anything about hardware. Would it be possible to port MGS4 to the 360, yes, but would it be a good idea, probably not. Kojima has always designed the MGS series for the Sony console. Just like RE4 was designed for the GC with the GC graphical style and controller in mind. Kojima designs MGS games to look best feel the best and play the best on a certain platform. Think of MGS on the PSone. It was obvious right from the first intro mission it was designed for the PS1 joystick and playing it on anything else would have been god awful.

Sure RE4 was eventually ported to the PS2 but the director of the wanted nothing and had nothing to do with the port. Sure there arn't that many PS3's on the market right now, but that will change. It's funny how ignorant a lot of console gamers are. I still hear 360 fanboys diss the PS3 solely on it's price. If you had any idea what the machine was capable of other than just for games you wouldn't be laughing at it's price. As far as Xbox Live. ROFL. What kind of idiot pays for online gaming. Unless it's an MMO with many servers that the company needs to keep up paying to play games online is just plain stupid, especially when there as laggy as they are on Xbox live. They need to atleast set up centralized servers for every game instead of running the game on whoever started it's machine. As far as gaming goes you want the best games and hardware buy a PC, you want the most varied array of games and some of the most creative/innovative go with Sony or Nintendo. You want Americanized dumbed down pieces of crap like Halo buy an Xbox. I havn't seen one truly solid title on the 360 yet. There have been some fun ones but there novelty wore off rather fast (Dead Rising).

How Halo 3 fixes Halo 2 multiplayer

Dec 17th 2006 12:59PM (Joystiq Xbox)
In reply to 61. It's the same thing thats happened with many once great series of PC games over the years. Each new sequel brings more noob friendly aspects to the game in order to get more people playing the game. Usually in turn this greatly reduces the level of skill involved in the game and how the overall game is played in the end. People seem to get pissy when they see a sequel with very little gameplay change, but sometimes, often times thats the best sequel. Just slight improvements and tweaks over the last game.

How Halo 3 fixes Halo 2 multiplayer

In reply to 40. Halo a skilled base game??? ROFL. Halo is terribly dated in both it's combat and team strategy. I've never owned an Xbox nor will I ever waste the money on one. I've played many games of Halo and Halo 2 and competed in a few tournaments. Every tourney I've gone to I've used the mouse/keyboard and cleaned house. It was hilarious watching the other kids that spend every waking hour of of there lives practicing the game whine cause they were losing to a guy with a t-shirt saying "Consoles are for Noobs". I got called a cheater many times for using the mouse/keyboard. My response to all the whiny joypad toting noobs was you have the same option to enjoy better player control that I do.
