I agree with GamerG. $600 is way too much for a game console. wasn't the neo geo priced similarly? look how poorly that did. Sure Sony has the playstation brand going for them but they will without a doubt lose a large amount of marketshare to microsoft. And since they invested so much money into ps3 and since the entire comany is riding on the success of this machine, they can't afford to be any less successful than they were with the ps2. They should have either put the cell or the blu-ray in ps3, not both. Nothing justifies $600. I don't care if it has a blu-ray player. Gamers shouldn't have to pay the price for their format war.
"More awkward was our newfound thumb dilemma. Our thumbs didn't rest well on the analogue sticks and we found ourselves searching for a spot to put them."
Ummmm yeah....how is this a newfound dilemma? The controller is the exact same size it's always been so that means your thumbs didn't rest well on the previous controllers. Its sounds like you're looking for excuses to hate on the new controller Mr. Wiley
- Microsoft shows HD-DVD addon and its version of the eyetoy. 30 second Halo 3 trailer. Also reveals some exsclusive titles.
- Sony reveals final controller and suprise, it looks pretty much the same as the boomerang. Apologizes for jerking gamers and journalists around for the past year. reveals ps3 price and release date. Metal Gear Solid 4 wows everyone at the show even the MS and wii fanboys. The other titles look comparable to 360 games. There will be no hands on demonstrations of the ps3(sadly) Ken Kutaragi will say something stupid like the ps3 is the most important creation since sliced bread.
- Nintendo reveals price ($149-179) and launch date. Reveals more secrets about the wiimote that we don't know about yet. Has a playable version of some quirky title that has everyone at the show addicted.
Am I the only one who agrees with QuantumPhysics? MuDuggy has a point as well. Yeah they can fit a 2 hour HD movie on an HD-DVD but what about the extras? Yes, they can fit that too but with one caveat. The extras won't be HD. What's the point of switching to a whole new format if it's half assed? I think the DVD era was way too short so if we have to switch a new format, it should be able to last at least 12 -15 years. Blu-ray seems more future proof and has the backing of Pc manufacturers. Who cares if Microsoft supports HD-DVD. Microsoft is a software company. The PC manufacturers will decide what hardware goes into their computers. The only PC manufacturer I can think of backing HD-DVD is HP. The only thing Microsoft can do is integrate HD-DVD support into Vista's media player. Blu-ray drive manufacturers can easily provide software with their drives so whats the problem? I love when people say Blu-ray will fail because all Sony formats fail. Who the hell said Blu-ray is exclusively a Sony format? THere are many companies with a stake in Blu-ray so that argument goes right out the window. Xbox 360 mathicng PS3's blu-ray with an HD-DVD add-on? Are you joking? Add-ons for videogame consoles never do well. Think 32X, Sega CD, Nintendo 64DD, Atari Jaguar CD....
this to all the people saying people are idiots for criticizing the name Wii. The name of your product is fairly important. Now I know that there are some weird named products out there but if the name is attrocious, product sales will be harmed. What if Sony decided to name their console the Cum. AS in Come experience a new gaming experience! We named it Cum so there would be no need for abbreviations. Isn't Cum amazing? Cum is only availabe in white. Hey guys let's go to my house and see my Cum in action! Cum will spawn legions of new gamers all over the world! get my point??
