While you might be fine with iTunes rentals, people like me can't really call what iTunes offers "HD". Blu-ray movies are in 1080p, and are about four TIMES the bitrate than iTunes rentals, so there's a HUGE quality disparity there. Plus there's also lossless surround sound, special features, all the advantages of owning a physical copy....

If physical media actually dies one day (and I believe and hope it won't), I'll never buy a movie again.

Yeah... it's a gimmick. Unless they've created some unbelievably incredible technology (AI, game engine) (hint: they haven't), it's just a glorified choose your own adventure. I'm sure it's just one basic premise with a bunch of branch points.

Still looks cool though.

But what do they mean by 1080p? It's one thing to have a game OUTPUT 1080p, it's another thing to make it RENDER in 1080p. Look at the not-remotely 720p GTA IV. They call that 720p.

Wait, so... Weblogs Inc IS aware that Canada exists? After the whole "Sorry Europe, the PSN movie store is US only for now" brilliance, I figured that no one writing for PS3fanboy or Joystiq had heard of Canada.

Oh, don't bother asking, it seems as though no one can hear us. It's baffling that in the multiple stories about the PSN video store, Canada hasn't been mentioned once. It's like no one at Joystiq knows the country exists.

...Do we have ANY confirmation on what regions it'll be available for? (Yes! There are a few billion other people in the world that don't live in the US.) I live in Canada and we always get shafted with this stuff. Apple FINALLY started movie purchases and downloads in the Canadian store a month ago.

No, I'm not still playing PAIN, but this free DLC will likely change that for a little while.
