12 Days of Joyswag: PlayStation 3D Display, 3D PlayStation 3 games, Air Flow controller

It depends on who is cooking. Today, it smells like snickerdoodles!

Netflix's DVD division renamed 'Qwikster,' adds games-by-mail

I think "devision" is on purpose ... as in "Qwikster".

So they charge us more, split the websites, and they STILL can't afford to hire a production company to make that crappy little video?

I demand a video apology for the poor production values of that apology!

New Xbox 360 update incompatible with some models, MS offering replacements [update]

My concern is transferring info. Will I still need to buy a "transfer kit" at some stupid price to get my saves and other info to the potential new system?

Report: Sony plans to restart PSN services 'fully' by May 31

@JasonA Not really. Brink will suck anyway. Now it will suck in LIVE only.

Some PSN services to return this week, full services 'within this month'

May 1st 2011 10:44AM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified) From Sony's press release:
Complimentary Offering and “Welcome Back” Appreciation Program
While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, the company is committed to helping its customers protect their personal data and will provide a complimentary offering to assist users in enrolling in identity theft protection services and/or similar programs. The implementation will be at a local level and further details will be made available shortly in each region.

The idea of $100 in compensation is sort of "eye of the beholder" to me. A movie, a month of PSN+, a month of Qriocity (if you had it). That is not $100. The discounts on games in + are permanent (you bought them), but the free stuff will disappear if you don't subscribe. The free Qore and the free DLs it may have will be permanent. Sony also said "Additional “Welcome Back” entertainment and service offerings will be rolled out over the coming weeks...", so who knows what that will be worth. $100, not likely. $40-$50 is more likely, depending on what you choose to use.

Gamasutra examines a PlayStation brand in crisis

Apr 29th 2011 10:04PM (Joystiq)
On the whole, I like, and have always liked, PlayStation products better. Things happen.. I do not think the response has been inconsistent with how they generally do business, and I will not hold this situation against them for long. They have offered enough information on a regular enough schedule to satisfy my "what's going on" questions. The fact that government agencies are now involved puts it in a different perspective as well.
Call me a fanboy if you must, (I do own an Xbox, and I do use it regularly), but I just want to get back to my games. I am not looking for a freebie. I am not pissed off. I just want to high-five P-Body and get shot in the head by my Socom 4 brethren.

Portal 2 Easter egg: Valve never meta-ARG it didn't like

@EDJE Thanks for the vid!
So, I can get to the room via the stairs, but even with the commentary on, there is no speech bubble. Is it necessary to have had it on earlier, or should I see it if I just turned that on?
Also, what did you do to get there in the video? All I see is an attempt to pick something up, a slight step to the right, and up you go!
Thanks

LA Noire to feature PS3-exclusive content, 'Consul's Car Traffic Case'

Apr 13th 2011 1:01PM (Joystiq)
@Jack Kevorkian Yeah, that is clearly not the point being made.
At this point in the cycle, the decision to buy a first console is made of many things. I personally have both consoles, and buy almost everything on PS3. But most of my friends have them, and not Xbox. I know that is not common. The fact that Sony has had a lot of exclusive content on multi-plaform games is as significant as the same having been true of earlier Xbox versions. I remember a bunch of people saying they'd buy an Xbox because of the extras. And, in your scenario, it may not be the "one traffic case" that sways the PS4/X720 buyer. But the fact that Sony is getting more than MS at the midpoint of this cycle might be recognized as a reason to lean Sony's way.
