What, you man both can coexist? Unfathomable!
"If Nintendo has its way, young males will no longer be the dominant segment of the console audience"
As a young male I welcome the change. I've played enough FPS and GTA style games. CHANGE OR DIE!
A true gaming fan would be swelling with pride if a grandma wanted to game. I remember back in the day showing my grandma a Gamegear Jurrasic park game and she was impressed with how it looked, but not enough to want to try. This random grandma WANTS TO PLAY. Lets take a second to acknowledge that.
You know, brother of Cliffy, it seems like you aren't a "videogame" fan, rather you hate Nintendo. A fan of non-Nintendo videogames perhaps would be better. With a quote like "converts to worship at the altar of Mario" I think you show your hand. Or name checking Hannah Montana - get it? all Wii players are 7 year old girls! Hilarious, right, huh, do you get it?!
Wait the REAL issue is "...what this new crowd appears to be drawn to" Damn kids today with their mini games. Back in my day people shot each other - AND WE LIKED IT.
And new IPs? Yes I really enjoy new FPS #94898 & racing game #11225 for the PS3 and FPS #94899, Pokemon wannabe # 515, and FPS #94900. Totally original. But a Cooking Mama, no we've seen that exactly once before (on the DS). It has been done. Move on.
PC World products of the year: Wii, 360 Elite ... um, no PS3

PC World products of the year: Wii, 360 Elite ... um, no PS3
May 23rd 2007 11:43AM (Joystiq)Right, not like the NES. Or Atari. The very first one, the Magnavox Odyssey? So to rephrase, the first videogame system ever did not get non gamers interested?
Also two great questions from Aberu: "Seriously what has the PS3 done that was bad for the game market. What has it NOT done to be in a top gadget list?"
1) raised the cost of entry to the current gen. (Also 60$ games, but MS is probably more culpable for that one, and they are just following.)
2) Nothing! Even if you don't like Sony, you have to admit that it is an impressive gadget.
For the record I call shenanigans. Everything else on the list is software, computer versions, or display systems (ie PC things). Is it because you can go online with them? I don't think consoles belong on that list.

Getting deep on Dead Rising
May 23rd 2007 9:30AM (Joystiq)Really, Trevelyan?? That's what you've been playing?
Really?! Oh...k.
So tell me what is the weather like in the distant future? Does that global warming turn out ok? Who wins the super bowl next year? I hope these questions are ok - I've never talked to a time traveller before and don't what to mess up the timeine too much.
Don't trust Trevelyan he is a Lienz Cossack traitor.
28 hours later, Warcraft gets its first Level 70
Jan 17th 2007 9:52AM (Joystiq)Ok, first off indeed is one word.
Second, since I assume you don't recall, pong is played by moving a paddle up and down. WOW is played by moving around in a 3D world with magic and fighting.
Third, every video game ever made starts you out with a basic set of rules and you do the same thing over and over again (Oh you like Mario? Its just the same jumping action over and over...)
Finally, what do you have against Pong? Maybe not motion sensing, but a great old school virtual tennis.
Walmart bets big on Burning Crusade
Jan 12th 2007 10:03AM (Joystiq)Also: "Wal-Mart expects The Burning Crusade to sell 5 million in the first 10 days"
Wow. Simply WoW. So Wal-Mart assumes that due to the expansion, WoW's population will MORE than double. IN 10 days!!! WTF? Someone needs to clear out some space next to thouse Atari ET games.
(I know it'll sell eventually, but c'mon, 10 days?)
