More survey data backs up Xbox 360's E74 increase

Mar 23rd 2009 10:36PM (Joystiq)
I love Cody and all's comments. My Launch 360 and my Wii I bought in Feburary 07 both broke the same week in Nov 07 - so, shouldn't fanboyism say that the 360 was the better machine? ::Rolls eyes::

I have been thinking about this since the first Joystiq article, and couldn't one do a test about the RRoD now being reported as the E74 error, as some claim? By this, I mean couldn't someone get a broken, RRoD 360 off ebay/ craigslist/ whatever and get it back up and running with a removable heat sink (or even "towel trick" it - that worked on my 360 until its coffin came) and then upgrade it to NXE and then undo the heatsink, remove the towel, etc and see if the error is still the RRoD or an E74?

"The veal? A fine choice, sir. I assure you it will still be screaming in pain when I bring it to the table for you. And may I recommend a pinot noir to go with it?"

Joyswag: Five copies of Devil May Cry 4 (on your platform of choice)

I have been wanting to get this on the 360...

And why they all look the same? Demon blood or lazy Capcom artist - take your pick.

Fanswag Weekly: Halo 3 and Game Fuel prize pack [update]

Oct 3rd 2007 9:49PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Well, I haven't tried The Gamer Fuel yet (I love Limewire, but hate Code Red), but I'd be willing to slug it down for a copy of Halo 3. I'd get...uh...cranked...and...um...jack it up. (Is that a good thing? When I was in High School, it meant you were lonely. But, if I won, I'd spend so much time playing H3, that my wife would stop talking to me. It all makes sense now.)

Come on...I think risking losing my marriage has got to slide a few points in my favor, right? Then I can drink my Game Fuel in Extreme Divorce Court!!! ;-)

(Nah, my wife is cool, really. She'd be playing with me...)

I wonder how many comments will be left here by the end of the month from everyone trying to win this (myself included).

Fanswag: Win the ultimate Halo 3 setup

Wow!

I have seen a lot of contests for Halo 3, but this one is probably the best yet! Way to go!

Personally, I love the fact that your contest is even better than Microsoft's. That would probably explain why I spend more time here than at xbox's site...

Wiis at Wal-Mart tomorrow

Jan 28th 2007 1:18PM (Joystiq)
Thanks for the heads-up! I told my wife about this last night and she immediately wanted to go. We got to Walmart about 10pm (for the 12am sale) and were sixth in line for what employees said were only five Wiis. But two people behind me was an off-the-clock walmart employee, so I knew if she was waiting, I was good.

Give the gift of SMB (again) this Christmas... maybe

All I meant Silky is that the All-Stars version is NOT the same thing. I don't have my NES hooked up right now, but it even seems the characters have more of a "slide" when they land after a running jump.

I think #6 and I (and #12) were just saying that the original played better.

Still having the NES version in my collection, I don't see myself ever paying for this again...

The version on All-Stars had updated graphics and the characters look more like their SNES versions.

I was just playing the All-Stars version today, as a matter of fact, and I much prefer the original. Yes, the gameplay is basically the same, but I liked the original, simple version. The -1 world is removed and the castle music just seems too muted.

But charging for this game is insane - anything above $2 for the NES version is way too much.
