I gotta agree with Munster here.

Here are the big two reasons why the iphone sales will not really have that much of an effect on iPod sales:

Reason 1: Difference in hard drive capacity. iPhone: 8gb and 600 dollars. iPod: probably 100gb and 400 dollars. There is no contest here. If you want to take your music collection with you, you're going to need an iPod. If anything, the iPhone will canabilize iPod Nano sales, but thats a bit of stretch too, being that the size of the Nano is what really sells it and face it, whos gonna run with an iPhone attached to your arm?

Reason 2: Okay this is more like speculation than anything. My bet is that a big killer difference between the iPhone and new iPod is going to be wireless methods to play your music. Maybe using an airport express, or some form of bluetooth. Thats going to be a pretty killer feature and one that the iPhone won't have.

The first reason is enough for me to buy an iPod. I want all of my music with me, not just some of it. The second reason would be icing on the cake.

13,000 dollars!? I'm sorry the kid killed himself... but GEEZ 13,000? This would make a hell of a lot more sense if you added another zero to that. Maybe Sweden is secretly living in the 50's and inflation has not yet taken effect over there.

One thing I've been waiting for with Mac the ripper and Handbrake is Dolby Digital encoding. Thats a BIG plus in my book. I can't find anywhere that says that this program can do that, but I'm pretty sure that it can, being that its just an exact copy of the disc. Man Apple should SERIOUSLY consider putting something like this into iTunes. It would be the final step in their domination. Apparently its legal enough according to this program.

Or maybe someone should have introduced him to allofmp3 a LONG time ago. It would have saved him about 7 of those thousands. Oh well, its the compulsive side of him I guess. Best she got rid of him either way. But come on. Higher resolution tracks for 1/4th the price? I'll take allofmp3, thanks.

iTunes needs a movie subscription or rental service. I agree with everyone that says HD content is too big for current harddrives, but if we had the ability to download it, watch it, and then a week later get rid of it, we'd all be happier. I can't stand the lowres of Apples content. I really want Apple to succeed here though.
