Portal 2: is it actually a good idea?

Jan 10th 2008 3:53PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think a sequel would be nice with a larger variety of puzzles and problem solving scenarios. I feel like the first game was just scraping the ice with the possibilities. Not too mention multiplayer, which I think, if done tastefully and well, could be awesome and refreshingly different. Imagine a tag type game of some sorts where there a few people chasing each other around a level with the portal gun. Player A creates an orange hole and jumps through and quickly attempts to shoot another orange hole to close his/her escape, but player B from across the map shoots a portal through Player A's portal and then dives through a secondary portal catching up with player A and then blam, he shoots, tags, kills, whatevers the person. The possibilities really are quiet infinite when it comes to the unique scenarios that could be formulated in a multiplayer portal setting. So basically, count me in, one order of Portal 2 please.

Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack announced and dated

Nov 19th 2007 4:53PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Look,
In Bungie's official posting they stated that the maps will be put into the ranked and non-ranked playlist first thing. There won't be months of delay. The system will pair people who have the maps with other people who have the maps. And if you don't have the maps you will get paired with...well you get the idea. They also said there will be a new playlist with just the new maps for people that just wanna play the new hotness. So don't fret, we aren't getting screwed like with Halo 2 DLC being primarily for custom game use.

Not to mention the map where we can add different forge items is great. Such as, man cannons! That's great, playing man cannons and shield doors will greatly open up the options for mayhem.

Peace

Fanpoll: skate vs. Proving Ground

Oct 17th 2007 11:03AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Skate hands down, and that comes from a history of playing and owning every Tony Hawk game thus far. It is such a different approach, and for the better. Rather than it be about getting 99999999999 points in one combo or getting some objects while running from dock workers(honestly it doesn't get much gimicky than that) it is about skating. The ride. I played the demo endlessly and now that I have the full game it is so easy to just pop it in, ride around, and do some cool stuff. Points don't even matter to me. Free skate, shut the HUD off, and then just ride. Don't know if you just did a uber cool trick? Well you do, when you get a multiplier the colors get bright and intense letting you know you are badass. This brightness is even more intense when you are high. Not that I condone that behavior, it's not for everyone, but Skate is surely in the top 5 games to play when high, as my roommate and I will attest to.

The only this this tony hawk has going for it is that it is the same old crap. Some people love it, and by some I mean a minority as the poll shows. Some people don't want to change their aybxybyxabyxrrr ways claiming the skate controls are hard to learn. No way, intuitive as it gets. You gotta try harder or just get better at games, cause your failing on one of those.

In the end, Skate > Tony Hawk any day anywhere.

Gamer replaces 11 360s, records audio proof

Jun 27th 2007 6:15PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think I agree with number 4 on this one. I have to wonder where people are placing their 360's when they have repeating issues. i stil have my first, got it at midnight on the first day at walmart. I have never seen a blip or start of any error. No red ring, no disc read errors. Nothing. Mines even in a big wooden cabinet. However, I do play with the cabient doors open, maybe that is cheating?

All I'm saying is the environment has to come into to play when it comes to the problems resulting from too much heat. I belive him about the 11 replacements, but I think some blame must ride on him. The odds of him randomly getting 11 bad 360's and so many people reporting never seeing a problem...(such as all my friends, none have ever had to replace)...he must be playing in hell or something.

New PDA games available for Alien Hominid

Jun 20th 2007 10:08AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I'll probably be picking this up, I've gotten all the PDA level packs thus far. It's awesome for parties and such. Not to mention, the four player madness is hilarious and addictive when high or drunk, although we play sober too since it's just so much damn fun. I like it for it's user friendlyness, even girls who don't play games can sit down and have fun with this one. I think it's one of the best games to come out for XBL arcade, and it's not even the main game, it's a mini game. 4 out of 4 pancakes for this one.

Halo 3: Features that should be in the game

May 27th 2007 4:18PM (Joystiq Xbox)
At digitalain,
That's actually a pretty funny idea, not for actual games, but maybe as something to be turned on in custom games. There would be a ton of bodies.

Halo 3: Features that should be in the game

May 27th 2007 3:59PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I'm honestly getting sick of people having generally retarded ideas. Different character models would change the game completely, a cover system or a position would also do this. Quit comparing Halo to other games saying well, it doesn't have this. You think Bungie just forgot those things, or maybe is behind on the times. No. They don't want a cover system.(you want that, go play vegas or gears). Just to pick out a few things I've seen from this post and others...Creatures and lightening strikes? 3rd person(overrated anyone, there are plenty of 3rd person games to get you off), melee combos and duel swords? WTF... Not being innovative because they don't have things that other games do is the worst logic ever.

PS-Nick James, dude, seriously, never make a game in your life. Please, for all of us.

All I'm saying here is, I've heard far too many horrible ideas and thoughts as to what bungie should do. If you really want those things, go join a game company, make that game, and watch as it doesn't sell, get goo reviews, or merit any awards. Bungie knows what they are doing. It's not a tactical shooter, nor is it realistic. It's not supposed to be doom, or quake, or any other FPS for that matter, it is supposed to be Halo. Which is what they are making. So please please, think through what your ideas before you arrogantly post them on sites. Gimmicks are not innovation, so leave them out of the arguments.

At #2...
"IE: The Darkness, Call Of Juarez, Dark Sector etc. etc."

You named some very iffy games coming out and some point, the darkness looks half ass, dark sector has changed names and plans so many times, and call of Jaurez is also a wild card.I'm cool with you not liking halo, plenty of people don't for some reason(I'm thinking it's just cause they are not good, or maybe they are to proud of another lesser FPS to drop down and accept halo as a lot of fun and one of the top FPS available)...But the games you picked have a large chance of sucking ass. At least mention some good upcoming games as alternatives, I mean seriously. GTA IV, Bioshock, mass effect, even Alan wake looks better than those games and who knows when that will see a release. Basically, I'm attacking your taste in games, and nullifying your opinion towards Halo cause you obviously enjoy some bizarre sh*t.

Peace
