Battlefield 3 targeting Fall 2011, teaser trailer out now

Feb 4th 2011 11:08AM (Joystiq)
@Jack Kevorkian Agreed. Prone = camping mode. Also dolphin diving if done wrong.

To those who say "herp real life soldiers go prone all the time derp", my reply is "how fast can they sprint while prone?"

If you're not moving, you're camping.

@Red Deer Welp, from the sound of it, you could use a gaming PC. Oh and BTW, you got me on the 64 player debate in that thread yesterday... Technically. You being a PS3 owner, it sounds like you're only getting 24.

@Invigilator But how was the destruction? Was it better? You can spout your opinion as fact all day long, it doesn't change the fact that BF3 is going to be Frostbite 2.0 while BF2 had no destruction whatsoever. All I'm trying to say is you 64 player guys are setting yourselves up for major disappointment. This game IS going to be multiplatform on DAY ONE. They're not going to take the time to make 64 player PC maps and 32 player console maps. There HAS to be a sacrifice somewhere.

@kgoo867 They don't come out as often as CoD games. They do not alternate development studios like CoD does. Therefore, they are not milked nearly as bad as CoD. You can think they are all you want, CoD is worse. Ironic that you speak of hypocrisy while turning a blind eye to these simple facts.

@Lennoko I'm not sorry, I play BC2 on a PC with a Radeon 5970 (that's 2 GPUs on 1 card, 2 GB of RAM total) and I can tell the difference in framerate between a full 32 player server and a full 24 player server (and so can Fraps, for what that's worth.) Don't get me started on the performance difference between dual and quad core, or the fact that a CPU overclocked to 3.2GHz or higher runs the game significantly better. Nice try, better luck next time.

@WillPG1212 Tell me, how was MAG's framerate when RPGs and tank rounds were knocking holes in buildings?

Oh, that's right, there's no destruction in MAG.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that even modern computers have limitations?

@TreeFoxx What's broke about a separate series from the same developer?

1. BF2 didn't have destruction. At all.
2. Small maps + jets? Good luck with that.
3. Computers deal in mathematics, not magics.
4. More squads are available than needed in BC2. Move to one you can have to yourselves and lock it. PS, what's to stop trolls from kicking full (unlocked) squads all day long for lulz?
5. Yeah, we may actually see that.

@Red Deer 64 players + Destruction 2.0 = can't run on current consoles, even PCs. If you read the post, they're adding even more visual effects, which makes 64 players even less likely than it already was (read: impossible). Not that I wouldn't like battles that massive. Who wouldn't? It's just that I don't believe in magic.

@ DigitalFortress Speaking of not holding one's breath... The BF(NOT BAD COMPANY) series has always been multiplayer only. Just sayin.

@kgoo867 Really? EA has studios OTHER THAN DICE pumping out a new game in the same vein once a year a-la Madden?

Really?

Dead Space 2 creative director denies satirizing Scientology

@jameshauler Religionists refer to Scientology as a cult, but we all know what really differentiates a cult from a religion is how popular it is. Not a single thing more.
