My mother made this blanket for me some time ago. It's my favorite gaming-on-the-couch-when-it's-cold blanket.

Gaming to Go: Space Invaders Extreme

Dec 30th 2008 9:09AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I ordered mine from here

http://www.superufo.com/pp/item_search_list.asp?keyword=paddle

though it looks like they only have pink in stock ATM. Some creative googling, I'm sure, will reveal more sources for paddle sales. I feel it's an essential part to playing Space Invaders Extreme, not to mention Arkanoid DS. Get it, I'm serious, even if it's pink, get it.

Gaming to Go: Picross DS

Dec 1st 2008 1:37PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Picross has been the single most used game of my 30+ DS carts. It has been in constant rotation since I purchased it when it was released. The continuously updated download-able puzzle packs make the game go on and on. I still haven't finished all of the built in puzzles as a result. Best $20 I've spent on my DS. Highly recommended if you enjoy puzzle games.

DS Daily: Remembering our old friend, the GBA

Sep 10th 2008 9:28AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
A memory I have of my GBA, oddly enough, is not one related to gaming. I remember dismantling my original GBA and installing the afterburner frontlight kit. Man that thing was great. $30 and I could play all my GBA games in the darkest of dark rooms. It was an epic moment. The SP was barely a twinkle in Nintendo's eye at that point, prior to that one could never play a GBA game (or just a GB game) without a direct light source, or at least one of those ridiculous worm light thingies that didn't work very well. I never got an SP or a micro after that. Since I had a lighting device built into my GBA, I didn't see the point.

Wii Fanboy hands-on with Penguin 4X Quad Charge Station

Aug 22nd 2008 10:53AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Neat but....I don't see what's wrong with just using a couple of normal rechargeable AA batteries. I got a few sets of high capacity (forget those energizer rechargeable crap you buy at Target, look online) NiMH batteries and a simple charger. For about $20 I can power all my Wii motes and the batteries last a long time, especially with the 2300-2500 mAh cells.

Friends of mine have purchased these rechargeable packs and stations and they are useful and convenient, but the battery pack typically alters the shape of the Wiimote which makes it no longer the right size to fit into the Zapper, or the Wii Wheel, or what have you. This is pretty cool, but not for me.

Mega Man 9 gets even more authentically retro

Aug 2nd 2008 7:55PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
yes, my friend, I'm sorry to say, but you are alone on that.

I am in complete retro bliss. I am buying this game and gifting it to everyone on my friend list who doesn't buy it. I want more of this type of thing, and WiiWare is perfect for it.

Mega Man 9 looks great, sounds great, did we mention looks great?

I've put my credit card number and information on an index card, stuffed it into an envelope, and will mail it to Capcom. I officially give Capcom permission to charge my credit card whatever they please*, for the utter joy they have brought me in developing this game.

I loved every single NES Mega Man. I still play them fairly regularly. The atrocities that have been inflicted on my little blue robot friend in recent games makes me weep. I have been longing for a real mega man release since....well....since the last real mega man release.

*ok not whatever they please. But I would pay an obscene amount of money for this game.
