Poll: Is firmware 2.1 actually boosting your signal?

Sep 12th 2008 6:23PM (Engadget)
You won't have to repurchase applications; if you "buy" one it will notice you purchased it before. However, why aren't your apps in iTunes anyway? Even if you buy them on the phone, you can use the "transfer purchases from iPhone" option...

Lost: Confirmed Dead

Feb 8th 2008 4:52PM (AOL TV)
Fantastic episode.

The Hydra polar bear in Tunisia only goes to make me think that the Vile Vortices theory is correct - something I've suspected since (a) the Antartica station picked up a signal and (b) Mr Eko's brother's plane disappeared in Africa....

If you don't know about the Vile Vortices, they are 12 areas on the surface of the Earth in which anomalies may occur including disappearances. One of the more famous ones is the Bermuda Triangle.

I think that the Island is not in our dimension at all (note the reference to how the light scatters differently by Faraday) and instead is a nexus connected to the Vile Vortices...

Doctor Who: Fear Her

Jul 14th 2006 5:53AM (AOL TV)
I think the main problem was the girl who played Chloe really couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. When doing all the whispering-shouty Isolus stuff where SHE... SPOKE... LIKE... THIS.... God it was painful to watch.

Still, Russell T Davies and co bring it back with the two-part finale which features some of the finest writing and acting of the season in my humble opinion. The final scenes of the final episode actually brought a lump to the throat.... :)

Doctor Who series one: The Parting of the Ways (finale)

Jun 14th 2006 7:03PM (AOL TV)
Dave - the Tardis has got more than one room in the new series. Admittedly so far we've only seen the wardrobe room on screen in series 2, but theu talk about the other rooms and giving tours. Hopefully we'll see more over time.

Doctor Who: Return of the Cybermen

May 23rd 2006 3:55AM (AOL TV)
It's not Internet rumours - they're definitely coming back for a two-part series finale... The Radio Times (a TV listings publication associated with the BBC) published a full breakdown of all the episodes of series two in the first week - the Cybermen invade Earth in Army of Ghosts/Doomsday on Saturday 1 and 8 July. RTD even said "It's not giving too much away to say the Cybermen are back, big time, en masse."

Sony can't sell PSPs in Europe! OMG WTF?! [update 3]

Just to let you know in London it's not 'SoHo' with a big H, it's 'Soho'. London's Soho was named after a 17th century hunting call when the area was a royal hunting park. New York's "SoHo" (South of Houston) was named as a play on London's Soho...

Remember - NYC big H, London little h. It's important. :P

24 movie will be filmed in London

May 6th 2006 6:01PM (AOL TV)
Stella, do you realise Kiefer was actually born in London? What are you going to do now - boycott 24 completely until an American is installed as the lead actor? You are a sad, sad woman and I seriously hope you are joking...

By the way, Kiefer thanked the UK in his interview for showing audience support for 24 long before the USA truly did...

ABC to launch Lost web game next week

Apr 25th 2006 4:05AM (AOL TV)
It launches on two different days because the initial "Rabbit Hole" into the game involves a fake advertisement that will be broadcast in the commercial break. As Lost Season 2 starts in the UK on May 2, whilst the next new Lost episode in the USA is May 3, it makes sense to do it that way. The fake broadcast will contain a clue to a toll-free number apparently.

Bugs, ghosts, and standard responses

Mar 2nd 2006 4:43AM (WoW)
I had a lovely experience a while ago when doing Blackfathom Deeps with a group.

An hour or so into the instance and I get wiped by a mob and my ghost pops up in the nearest graveyard in Darkshore - no problem. However, instead of the standard running back to the instance to resurrect, my body instantly resurrected in the graveyard without asking, and then instantly died again. My body was nowhere to be found - which was as it should be, with the body meant to be back in the instance. So, I wisp my way back to the instance portal, pass through and still don't resurrect. I float all the way through the instance to my group and I'm not there either. I leave the instance, go back to the graveyard and still no body.

Eventually I have to use the spirit healer in Darkshore but in the amount of time lost floating back and forth my group had to disband and I never did get to finish my quests...

And don't even get me started on the invisible mobs. There's tonnes of them around Ashenvale that attack you... grrr....

Microsoft Patents Smart Playlists

Sep 8th 2005 9:13AM (Download Squad)
Actually Dustin, I think you'll find iTunes 1.0 for Mac OS 9 was introduced in January 2001, not 2003! There's a review from February 2001 which can be found here: http://www.atpm.com/7.02/itunes.shtml (c/o Google search). Considering the iPod was introduced to the market in October 2001 as an accessory to iTunes at that time, it would be strange if iTunes did not exist until 2003 :) I think you've got confused with the introduction of Smart Playlists to iTunes which happened in version 3.0, in July 2002; unfortunately after the date that MS filed their patent, or maybe with the iTunes Music Store which was introduced in 2003. A whole history of iTunes is at your fingertips in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes
