What store brand products will you not buy?

For those of you who swear by Heinz, you should give Hunts a try. I find it's a bit more complex and ketchupy. Cook's Illustrated did a taste comparison in a recent issue...

For those of you who don't know about Brettspielwelt, it's an online community where you can play all these (plus like 50 other German games).

When grenadine isn't grenadine

I think I wrote this up on kaiserpenguin.com somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

Grenadine

Ingredients:
16oz pomegrante juice (POM works just dandy)
2c granulated sugar
1oz vodka (as a preservative)

1. Combine juice and sugar over medium heat and stir around until the sugar dissolves.
2. Remove from heat, stir in vodka, bottle, and pop it in your refrigerator. Keeps for a couple of months.

What has happened to Iron Chef

I would like to echo my pain as well - Any new info will probably be found on ironfans.net. I'm a bit surprised I haven't seen a news article about people storming the FN offices...

I guess I must accept that at some point in my life, they will stop replaying ICJ, whether it's now or 20 years from now. I never really mind watching rerun after rerun, though. If they could put out a DVD a year of the series, I don't see how it wouldn't sell like crazy.

Chinese New Year Tradition: Throw Out Your Useless Gadgets

I agree whole-heartedly on the melon baller, but I've found it to be very useful for hollowing out apples, onions, and other "you will destroy me if you take a knife or spoon to me" type of foods.
