Wii gets dated, priced in Europe

Sep 15th 2006 6:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have to admit, I think this does kind of suck a bit, but given what happened with the DS Lite's pricing the pricing issue was to be expected. Nintendo's products have almost always been more expensive in Europe than they have in the US and Japan, I gues the chances are the localisation has something to do with it, but I couldn't honestly say for sure.

What dissapointed me more than the price though is the release date, I would almost rather they wait untill January than release the Wii in December, this has more or less ensured that the Wii will become the "Buzz Lightyear" of this Christmas (anyone living in the UK should remeber what I'm talking about ^^; ).

Nintendo's newfound design philosophy

Feb 2nd 2006 7:39AM (Joystiq)
To be honest I would say that Nintendo's "cross pad" idea has been more or less the same accross all generations, but now that you point out how similar those are I guess there are differences. I guess the reason I thought that is because Nintendo seem to be the only company who do it that way rather than a circle with a cross in it or 4 seperated buttons (albeit connected by the membrane).

Homebrew on PSPs running firmware 2.01 through 2.50!

Jan 27th 2006 4:03AM (Engadget)
This is interesting. Does the thought ever occur that companies like MicroSoft and Sony really shoot themeselves in the foot by trying to stamp out homebrew. I mean I'm sure some kind of compromise could be made in which it is okay to write software for platforms as long as it does not involve emulation or software piracy. I mean I really wouldn't mind a decent *.MP3 player for the PSP, better yet an *.OGG player ^_^
