Nintendo targeting women with new pink 3DS in Japan on October 20

Sep 13th 2011 10:24AM (Joystiq)
If you want to market to women, try not hypersexualizing them and casting them in bit roles as eye-candy for male players. That might be a good first step. Not this patronizing stereotyped bullshit. Gaming goes out of its way to alienate half its potential demographic, both through its usual efforts and through "market outreach" failures like this.

Make some room for the Rage PC specs

One reason the specs are so low is that most lighting is static and they use very few complex shaders. Read Carmack's interviews where he tells the limits of tech 5. It does one specific thing extremely well. Which is why it's so optimized.

Amazing what mental acrobatics racists go through to justify their ugliness. You get an A for effort.

@pika2000 Fiction is written in the real world, by racist douchebags. Fiction affects people's attitudes in the real world. Why the denial?

@Grimbear13 White privilege. That's why. Regardless of any stereotyping, whites are still at the top of the food chain. There is no such thing as reverse racism. You're the one who's whining.

Racism is extremely common in games. How come this is the one time racism makes a headline on Joystiq? What about the countless other instances?

People in the comments here keep whining to get over it because this kind of portrayal is all too common across all media. Apparently, the more common horrid bigotry is, the more acceptable it is? How about instead we acknowledge just how messed up things are and move to change it?

@Xoonaka The sad thing here is, you think you're being ironic. I'm white, BTW, so I'm being racist against my own people? Interesting. PS. I have a funny joke. Here goes: "Reverse racism". Bahaha! Oh, man, that one gets me every time.

@NIck PSN ID Rattlehead91 1) Because this is the kind of ignorant shit white people say when anything related to race comes up.

2) White people don't know what is or isn't racist. Because we don't experience racism. (The worst we ever experience is prejudice. Racism is prejudice backed up with institutional power.) The fact that white people assume they are the authority on what is or isn't racist is an aspect of white privilege.

PS. I'm white. And sick of other white people acting so ignorantly.

A forum full of white people saying racism isn't a problem? What a surprise.
