Consider me corrected then.

Orion, as much as I want to agree with you, a vast majority of the games that ship with issues are normally issues pertaining to the online portions of the game. So as the game gets fixed, the patches normally relate only to the online portions of the games. Hell, just look at all the patch updates to Motorstorm and what they fix. There are some games that ship with issues in the single player but those occassions are rare. And with over 60% of the 360 userbase with Live Gold accounts, that speaks volumes to the market they are attacking.

As for PS3 and all their firmware updates... well, I agree majority of the US does NOT have high speed, but they do have regular internet. And PS3, unlike 360, can update via a third party source. Aka, download on your computer, stick it on a flash, and upgrade through the USB ports. But considering only 30% of the PS3 userbase knows the system can play BluRay movies, you can imagine how few know about that route.

But they're not the exact same. One has the EE+GS combo chip, the other just has the GS. Majority of the glitches will stem directly from games that use the EE in very specific ways. However, in Europe, where the GS only version took lead, Sony quickly got the stats over 98%. Which is admirable considering my 360 can tell me Guilty Gear X2 Reloaded is in the drive, but refuses to play it. Also, keep in mind that what Sony reports as glitches, Microsoft makes no mention of. In other words, Sony mentions when texture swapping glitches appear in the game whereas Halo 2 works on 360, not completely, but well enough to be a checkpoint.

Harmonix CEO confirms Rock Band's Xbox 360 bundle guitar is wired

Because Xbox still hasn't returned a dime of it's investment? I have a feeling Xbox exists at this point solely for the tax writeoff.

Depends. If someone is using a microwave locally, you lose connection with the controller on PS3. Other waves can temporarily disrupt connection. It happens very rarely nowadays (especially compared to launch) but it does happen. Meanwhile, my 360 controller only loses signal when it dies.

Bluetooth Advantage: Because Sony made it bluetooth, it makes it a VERY open console to peripheral support and accessories.

Bluetooth Disadvantage: Because it IS so open, it's also very open to disruption and temporary loss of signal.

For me, the PS3 version is the winner for all the following reasons.

1. Majority of my local friends are PS3 owners. Many just refused to pay, yet again, for a 360 repair. But that's neither here nor there. Essentially we'll be buying the same equipment all around.

2. I'm worried my 360 will break when I'm truly addicted. Seriously, Bioshock locked up last night, not a good sign. So the choice there is simply a matter of more reliable hardware and the knowledge that Rock Band will work with my PS4.

3. I have enough 360 games to buy this holiday season. I try to spread the love among my consoles so that the repeats of last gens don't occur again. Where I have all three consoles yet the number of games on the one outnumbers the others nearly 4:1.

Out of having my PS3 since launch (well, technically, five days after... talk about a fast second shipment) and only needing to charge my batteries 3 times , I don't imagine a controller with less button inputs and similar motion sensing (provided they sprung for more than the spring in a tube connection of the original GH controllers) will somehow drain faster. Especially without rumble.

Halo 3 'early adopter' banned for many lifetimes

Sep 7th 2007 8:51PM (Joystiq)
Well basically, COD2 killed it for me because, unless you played the hardest difficulty, you only unlocked two achievements. But for each level on the hardest is a new achievement. I also despise time trials and such so my Tomb Raider Legends effectively remains incomplete. I basically play until I get bored with the game. I looked up the achievements on Dynasty Warriors: Gundam and I was tempted to play it just so I don't have to manually translate that game. Sad part? On my copy of Gundam Musuo, 3/4s of the ahcievements would be unlocked already. Co-op is seriously fun in that game. Plus, having a friend handy during the insanely stupid sequence in Original Mode where I started a level and literally fought Gato's Gelgoog, Tal-geese III, God Gundam, Zeta Gundam, and then Double Zeta Gundam in a marathon. Five bosses in a row when the game's normal missions are literally 4 bosses max spread out across a 20 minute mission.

I must be the only person who doesn't care about achievement points. I mean, they killed a games fun for me. COD2. Bought it, decided to get all the points, and began to play on the hardest setting. Got so frustrated COD2 now sits on a shelf, unwanted, unloved, and the free mappack codes, unredeemed. Since then I've been like "fuck it, if I get points I get points."

I'm sitting at 3500 right now.
