No more PSP homebrew talk on Sony's forums

Umm, they've already dumped the firmware from the PSP-2000.... I give it a week.

BioShock gets the Zero Punctuation treatment

Sep 6th 2007 8:23PM (Joystiq)
Haven't died yet so I can't make comment but I'm only to farmers market.

But the choice issue, I'm right there. Often these games that talk about choice of being good guy or bad guy and the choice is ultimately the players. Yet you take one choice and you're ultimately punished for being a bad guy rather than the game saying "So... chose bad guy, huh?" and rolling with it. That, and the moral questions posed are often represented in such a simplistic A or B manner that there's really no thinking about the choice and the ramifications that come with that. Now these choice games have gotten better recently with SUPPORTING more evil choices but you're still punished. I still have bad dreams of Neverwinter Nights and my constant affairs of needing to kill homeless people between missions just to stay in alignment.

Note to Game Designers: If I have the choice of being Chaotic Evil.... then goddamit, support my decision rather than punish me front of the game to the back.

Of course that rant is more directly attached to RPGs than most games but the video man mentioned it, I merely remarked further...

As to Bioshock, cannot say for certain whether it's overly hyped yet or not (right now I'm leaning towards yes) but I can say it's just like Resistance to me in how I cannot marathon game on this title. I eventually have to stop then I'm back to either Disgaea 2 or DJ Max Portable 2 right now.

Thanks but I have no shortage of ideas for games. This one we are working on right now is fairly simple but it's only the first in a trilogy. The hardest work has been pounding out our own engine and reverse engineering Maya files to find out how to make the engine read Maya files rather than dealing with writing our own proprietory format. But that's programming and I'm not a code monkey. I'm just the lead design and artist... so any info beyond that in the coding aspect, I can't help you.

Oh, you mean aside from all those games, then yeah, I agree.

Busy busy busy. First, we're finalizing a massive project at work (we essentially built an entire country for a flight sim...). Second, my work in creating my own game is getting more and more hectic. And third, I've been hammering away on my entry for UGAC III at CGtalk. I've officially gone through 8 revisions.....

The fact that they tolerated it to this point is suprising to me. Just as I'm sure Nintendo bans ROM talk on their forums, Sony is in their right here. Plus there is the very valid fact that, when searching for PSP torrents, you find a hell of a lot more piracy than homebrew. While I support what the homebrew community accomplishes, there is still the fact that their efforts are piggybacked by thieves.

New Street Fighter movie helmed by Doom director

Sep 6th 2007 7:21PM (Joystiq)
You know, if you tried to take the original Street Fighter movie seriously, like how they marketed it, you would be disappointed. But once you realize M. Bison relieves stress by painting sad clown pictures, you basically roll with that aspect and realize it's a very entertainingly bad movie.

Also, keep in mind, during the time of the Street Fighter movie, majority of the story was still rather haphazardly thrown together (as evidenced as Malibu Comics tried desperately to spin a yarn from the series). By the time Udon got their shot at making the Street Fighter comic, Alpha had fleshed out so much of the story.

ith only a two week delay, that sounds likely. After all, I have NEVER heard of a full fledged bughunt in under two weeks.

The Orange Box delayed on PS3

I know, right? I mean, it's maddening when this game isn't like currently available for PC or anything for under $20 nowadays to tide them over. That's just crazy talk.
