Bold Hair Hues Lead to Suspension for 6th-Grader

Feb 17th 2011 11:03PM (ParentDish)
Everyone saying "she broke a rule, end of story" know it is actually expected in US law, especially at the federal level, and this has often shaped current laws, that a law can be broken, someone sued, and then the law challenged for validity? In several cases, the law was declared unjust.

And read the damn dress code. Hair color is not explicitly stated.

Bold Hair Hues Lead to Suspension for 6th-Grader

Feb 17th 2011 8:07PM (ParentDish)
Actually, it's not in the dress code, which you can find from the Channelview home page by clicking on Students at the top, then under the General header, Dress Code Requirements.

It sounds like a very prep-like school district. They don't even allow watches, and if you wear one they'll take it from you and return it to you later. Here are other things that sound stupid, even for a prep school:

Boys must have short hair and cannot wear earrings (no jewelry, of course!). You cannot wear short-sleeve shirts. Anything showing beneath your clothing must be white. You cannot wear stripes.

Women Rally Around Widower to Breast-Feed Infant Son

To the person talking about formula:

It's been medically proven that breast milk is far and away better for newborns to roughly a year after birth than formula can be. The body creates the milk in a way that has just the right amount of nutrients for a human that hasn't quite been replicated by formula. Granted, it's probably a better mix coming from the biological mother, but still. The body also has a way of keeping harmful pathogens out of breast milk (I'm not advocating breast feeding while sick).

Please don't tax Coke!

I don't see a compelling argument here not to tax these soft drinks. It reads like a kid more concerned about money than anything else. There are at least three paragraphs that convey the same message just with different wording.

"What this discussion should tell these companies is that, whether a new tax comes along or not, they need to redouble efforts at marketing the healthier side of their drink portfolios."

This is exactly what this tax is designed to do.

Vista DRM to slow down high-end graphics? [update 1]

Dec 27th 2006 4:33PM (Joystiq)
This is going to be quite lovely when I'm playing DRM music on my computer (like that'll ever happen) and trying to play a game at the same time, which I often do (with the game's music turned off). This means my speakers turn off because my computer is connected to a receiver through SPDIF. Whoops!
