After reading all 102 comments (as of right now), I have to admit that I agree with 32_Footsteps wholeheartedly on this matter.
I'd also like to point out that long lines normally attract other human beings. We are base, envious, curious creatures, if you couldn't tell from these comments. We want what everyone else has, even if it's a short, bittersweet, and possibly agonizing experiance, such as waiting in line to play a Wii that crashes on you.
