Its probably a morale event... but hell make shit up, its more entertaining that way.

XNA Game Studio Express FAQ not entirely worthless

Aug 15th 2006 2:06AM (Joystiq)
I don't work in the Xbox division, but a little common sense and some technical know how will explain why you need to pay the 99$ a year fee to play community games. All Xbox 360 binaries must be signed, or they won't run. When MS signs a binary/game, it runs on all Xbox 360 consoles, where as when a community developer signs a game, it only works for the specific Xbox / Xbox Live member that compiled it. This is why you need to share the source code for the game in order to have others run it on the 360. The person you are sharing with must compile it themselves. Does all this make sense? It's probably all in the FAQ that I'm too lazy to read...

NY Times on Vista's widescreen gaming woes

Jul 25th 2006 9:00PM (Joystiq)
I have a post beta 2 build of Vista running on my rig at home (build 5864 I think, I'd have to double check) and I've seen no such problems with wide screen support. Games that support wide screen resolutions look fantastic, games that don't, don't. Its not an OS issue, it has to do with lazy game development. Wish nationaly published journalists would do a bit more homework before venturing opinions.

Uhmm.. those of you picking on Kevin need to stop a second and think. 20 fights with one instant kill != 5% chance to instant kill per attack (unless all fights last exactly one attack... and uhmmm.. at that point, why do you need the dagger?)

"You do realize that Nintendo of America HQ is in Redmond too, right? :-)" -- Greg O.

Yep.. I know, I have one or two friends who work there. They ate crow a few months back when they finally broke down and got 360's, I guess its my turn. :P

Storm your shops! DS Lite street date broken [update 2]

May 31st 2006 2:09AM (Joystiq)
I was just at EB reserving a DS lite earlier today, I asked the clerk if I was sure to get one on the 11th (didn't want to get burned like everyone who pre-ordered 360's). He looked it up in his little binder and told me they'd be receiving them on the 31st of this month (showed me the print out when I questioned the date). This was an EB in Redmond, WA. (and yes, I feel weird buying a Nintendo product given where I work)

Xbox 360 could still be MIA through spring

The numbers quoted here are wrong (or just out of date). MSFT released earnings yesterday, 1.5 million units were sold worldwide, 900k in the US, 500k in the EU, and 100k in Japan.
