Feb 24th 2012 3:41PM (Joystiq)
"It's safest to write new Sonic games off from the moment they're announced"

Screw you guys, Colors and Generations were both fun.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 rated by ESRB for consoles, PC

@VampireEater It didn't flop at all. Critics didn't like it but it sold very well.

Why not just make it opt-in? Lots of games do this.

Sonic CD was December's top PSN game

If anyone wants to read a review of the Sonic CD rerelease, I wrote one here:

Long story short: solid game, some frustrating level design, fantastic porting job, great soundtrack.

@Coldpillow: If you want the best Sonic experience, get both Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles and play them together (there's a "lock-on" feature that combines them into one long game). Sonic CD is a good game, but not the best, and plays quite a bit differently than the other classic titles.

@Felgraf I know! You hadn't posted yet when I was writing, then I hit submit and saw yours right before mine.

BioShock Infinite to include tougher '1999 Mode'

Jan 19th 2012 1:05PM (Joystiq)
People are missing why it's called 1999 mode. 1999 is when System Shock 2 - Bioshock's spiritual predecessor - was released. A lot of SS2 fans felt like Bioshock simplified or removed alot of the more complex and difficult elements of that game, and this mode reintroduces several of those to Bioshock Infinite.

Xbox Live schedule: Sonic CD is $5, Rock of Ages half price, more!

@andrewpoe: Neither, it's been remade on a new (but true to the original) engine with proper not-stretched widescreen support, both soundtracks, an optional Sonic 2 style spindash, and much smoother special stages.

Gabe Newell on monetization before game design (spoiler: it stinks!)

Aug 30th 2011 1:33AM (Joystiq)
@Flesseck: Valve never had to worry about making earnings because it was founded by two Microsoft millionaires. Even before they ever shipped a product, Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington could pay all their employees out of their own pocket and not break a sweat.

Ubisoft says always-on DRM is 'a success,' fans are confused

Jul 30th 2011 3:08PM (Joystiq)
Splinter Cell: Conviction, at least, had reduced piracy rates not because the DRM was effective, but because the game was kinda shit.
