Golden Charity will destroy Team Fortress 2 Golden Wrench for Child's Play

Jul 21st 2010 12:09AM (Joystiq)
@Bolts: The difference between WoW and TF2 is that Valve doesn't charge for anything other than the initial cost of the game.

(Well, that, and they're totally different games.)

ION making even fancier Rock Band drum set

Jul 2nd 2010 7:24AM (Joystiq)
@Ophidios: Roland TD-3SW - $1000.
DTXplorer: $879 (currently on sale at Amazon for $600 though)
Current ION controller: $300 ($250 if you want one less cymbal).

Also, these are higher-quality than most ION kits (the same drums and cymbals are used in the $600 Alesis DM6 kit) and can be hooked into a MIDI drum module (the cost of which admittedly brings this closer to the price of a DTXplorer, although you don't need to buy a MIDI adapter to use it in Rock Band) for use as an actual electronic kit.

Interview: Dance Central producers on balancing gender and keeping it 'fresh'

@teteroto Very different games. DDR isn't so much about dancing as it is about how fast you can move your feet. This is actual, you know, *dancing*.

Sega: Sonic is the only playable character ... 'in Episode 1'

@(Unverified): Actually, that item box isn't there in normal Sonic 2, only when it's locked on to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Valve says Apple, NVIDIA and ATI are working to improve Mac gaming performance

Jun 17th 2010 9:57PM (Engadget)
@doubleyewdee: Another reason Macs are probably more powerful than the average PC in the statistics is that Valve's games aren't exactly demanding. The two most consistently popular games on Steam (Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike) are from 2004 and *1999*, respectively. Even CS:S is from before Apple was even making Intel Macs.

Portal 2 heading to PlayStation 3 with Steam Cloud support

Jun 15th 2010 4:43PM (Joystiq)
@st3v3n: The Orange Box was ported by EA, Valve talked about how terrible the port was, Gabe said the PS3 was a useless piece of crap, and neither Left 4 Dead game was for PS3.

So yeah, this is a surprise.

Portal 2 heading to PlayStation 3 with Steam Cloud support

@(Unverified) : Nah, he said best *console* version. PC gamers are still the glorious master race.

@mrmobius Pretty sure this IS the surprise.

Mac mini updated with HDMI, aluminum unibody, and SD card reader

I like how they're using TF2 to advertise the bump in GPU power.

@Saad Yeah, I was about to say, it looks exactly the same.
