Nintendo "Revolution" now called "Wii" [update 6]
Apr 27th 2006 1:47PM (Joystiq)Lucky they didn't call it the Nintendo Poo, or Nintendo Piss!
I don't really care, although I would buy a couple if they'd have called it the Nintendo Pimpin' Bitch-Sl*t.
Nintendo have said thay were going in a different direction, all along... wait a sec - the Wii is aimed in a different direction to the other consoles! Anyway, what's more childish than the name, is the people who are so insecure that they are afraid to buy it because of what it's called.
The people who don't get used to the name (even if it is strange at first) are people who don't really care about games at all, in my opinion.
It's far more controversial and unique than "Revolution" as a name, which is the whole point. People who think of computer games as a way to get respect are quite foolish - it's about having fun.

Microsoft after Sony's family friendly image
Apr 21st 2006 2:58PM (Joystiq)Viva Pinata will be the biggest title until the next biggest title is revealed. They want Sony's popularity and Nintendo's respect.
Anyway, it's not going to work for a long time - mainly because "casual gamers" don't give a shit about graphics, and aren't going to pay £300 for something with better grahpics, when they can pay £100 for something with all that Singstar, Dance and Eyetoy stuff.
Gamers, meet patch cycle. Patch cycle, gamers!
