Glad to see that some gaming gems will not be lost thanks to HD makeovers.
It makes economical sense too. The game is practically already designed, and developers just have to transfer everything to a more powerful engine and add the graphics. Not straight forward but certainly economic.
I hope to see HD remakes of other great games. Deus EX 1, Thief... the list is loooong.
Kiki means vagina in Filipino, an whatever this game is about, it is not targeting anyone outside Japan. So other than having a game with the word kiki in it, this is no news at all for anyone outside south east Asia.
@(Unverified) The only thing I saw as a positive was the fact that adrenaline charges certain goodies quicker. It is a good incentive for getting into action. I love FPSs but I was expecting more. I hope EA releases another 10 minute teaser that changes my opinion. The Syndicate franchise has too much potential to be wasted like this.
I laud Dues EX (the original) and even DX:HR yet this demo for Syndicate left me wanting.
DX's richness was not clunky, it's augmentation, sub-missions, combat and hacking systems were complex but that complexity were given to the player in bite size chunks. This is what the mainstream needs. They don't mind a complex system if there is a friendly learning curve. Eventually the player feels rewarded because he feels smart when managing to hack, or use the chosen augmentation to carry out a task more easily.
Instead in Syndicate everything that could have been great because inspired from DX has been watered down. Hacking a brain is a one button affair, it's not rewarding and instant. When I saw that I went WTF?! Same thing with hacking the environment, the turret and the dataverse. I can't believe all this power is given so easily so early and at a push of a button. WHat the presenter called a puzzle was no puzzle at all. And that Press X repeatedly thing.... OMG!!!
Trust me, this game is just a lot of hype that will amount to a game that receives low scores when it actually gets reviewed hands on.
I'm actually looking forward to see the style, and how this will fit with the first Deus Ex.
But as you said. It is the multiple choice about pathways, alliances, conversations, upgrades and augmentations that makes up the goodness of what Deus Ex is all about.
The article is more about the superficial presentation, which while good, is not the main essence.
If Microsoft made a toaster your toast could occasionally end up with a "bluish substance of death" all over it for no apparent reason.
If Apple made a toaster you will be charged $3 for every piece of toast you order via the apple bakery. You wold be able to download bread for every occasion.
If Google made a toaster it will would be free and be hyped because it is made by Google! But to use it you'd have to go online and log into your google account! You could earn a few bucks by applying adsense on your toast though!

Dec 6th 2011 4:34AM (Joystiq)However, I'd be happy with any good game, especially if it's the next Unreal Tournament. It is definitely time to release a new version.
I hope the news is not just an engine update. A new experience is promised.

Exploring a 'Cyber Renaissance' in Deus Ex: Human Revolution
May 18th 2010 4:52AM (Joystiq)OMG!
Please, tell me this means that the game won't last 4 hours till you see the ending!
I want a 40 hour gameplay like the original Deus Ex, and yes we can make time for it.
