@Palebane Sorry for the double post it cut the other bit off.

I had said. When it comes down to it, the action of a FPS game might be more difficult in the term of skill. There is no way to dumb down a fps. To dumb down a game is to remove something from the game that was to difficult for most players to understand to even play the game to begin with. Dumb down, means the removal of stuff that you actually had to use your brain to figure out.

FPS games have nothing you could remove to make them easier. Therefor, fps games are the most dumb downed games. Dumbed down games has nothing to do with whether or not they are hard skill wise.

@Palebane While the style in which you play, fps vs turn based, may be easier then that other. There is no real thought that goes into a fps. Its just run around and shoot. You may be dodging and shit but fact are facts.

1. hardly anyone uses real tactics in a fps. 90% of the time people just run, gun and spray and pray.

2. There is no character development. No stat points, no skill points, no damage modifier. You simply pick the best gun and go with it, most likely doing the said above.

So yes a game where all you do is automatically swing swords and cast spells can be more challenging them a fps. I would honestly like to see most fps fans try to play a game like neverwinter nights. I doubt most of you could even make a decent class. You'd probably get overwhelmed by the complexity of it then quit and QQ. Then next time they go to make a game like skyrim they will dumb it down. Excuse me, I mean they will remove the "confusion" so you fps players don't hurt your poor little brains trying to figure out whats better for a wizard, str or int.

@SnarlingWolf Why then would he want to go through the trouble to show you a f2p game with no non-vanity items in it if you will just reject what he shows you? You just made it clear that it doesn't matter if he proves to you that there are f2p games with only vanity itemsmbecause you would still reject them.

The problem here is that you just don't like cash shops regardless of what they sell. I play many f2p games where I can compete with players who do spend money on stat boosting items and I still win. So cash shops do not break games regardless of whether or not they are selling more then vanity items.

Btw you counteracted yourself in your posts. If a game was "pay to play", and the only way "free to play" games can make money is by adding stat changing items to their shop, then why would a game that is already making money off of player based subscriptions need to add more then vanity items? Again, you just hate cash shops, it doesn't matter what they are selling.

This is stupidity. Even the gaming industry should be against this. Let's plays are good for video games. Want proof of that?

Lets look at two recently popular video games. You may not like them, but you have to admit, if you could make a game and sell as many copies as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft or Minecraft that you would be one happy and very rich man.

Now lets look at what games have the most youtube videos? Why it would be cod, wow and minecraft. I mean, its stupid that you could end up in prison for showing a video of your toddler watching lion king, but its even stupider that the gaming industry doesn't see the importance of this. The better selling games, are the most popular lets plays, and people showing off their skills in fps'. I bought Amnesia and minecraft because of lets plays, can't you make that connection?

What if the Modern Warfare 2 credits were edited to reflect vacated Infinity Ward positions?

Apr 16th 2010 2:45AM (Joystiq)
This can't be legal can it? I mean they put work into a game, I don't see how their names could legally be taken out of the credits. Credits reflect all those who WORKED on the game at the time of its making, therefor it doesn't matter if they no longer work there, they still are owed a spot in the credits. Personally I think there is a big law suite coming if they really are removing names from credits.

Avalanche opens casual online studio Expansive Worlds

zombiemuzak you have no idea how hunting works do you? They have seasons, I bow hunt and when rifle season comes around I have nothing else to do but sit around and wait for archery season to open back up. I could hunt with a bow during archery season sure, do I want to? No, not to mention a guy with a rifle can NOT hunt during archery season so he is worse off then I am.

God forbid someone make a game so these guys can enjoy their past time even when they aren't allowed to be hunting in real life. Not to mention that the game is 1 a great way to introduce young people into the hunting world and 2 a great way for disabled people to enjoy something they no longer can due to their illnesses.

All games have their place, and that includes the hunter.

The Daily Grind: MMORPG or MMOSPG?

Apr 6th 2009 6:10PM (Massively)
I think that now and days it is a must to have solo content in a mmo, however I do wish that mmo's would make it more rewarding to group thus giving players that incentive to group with others. Quest in WoW like the group quest were great examples of giving players a reason to group, the same could be said for elite quest and dungeon quest, however Blizzard has more or less removed that content from game and made it all by passable with so many solo quest that you never need to touch a group quest.

Also something else that hurt mmorpg's when it comes to solo vs group is that grouping hinders ones ability to level. They say you get group bonus xp but if you really look at the numbers in WoW it is better off to solo then to group because you will get more xp soloing, and group xp kills grouping until about level 30 and even after that it slows you down more then anything.

I love grouping and I like being social in mmorpgs, however I feel that there has to be solo content but this doesn't mean that devs like blizzard need to kill grouping by making the game geared towards soloers, they can balance it out and make it slightly more rewarding to group thus causing players to prefer grouping over soloing. Win win for both sides, players can still solo if they are that antisocial, and then there will be those looking to group to level faster or get better rewards and so on.
