here in Brazil, two networks sell it locked (Vivo and Claro), but you can unlock it at any time, even if you're under contract (under the local regulator's rules), while other two networks (Oi and TIM) sell it unlocked.

@doubleu true. in fact, Windows Phone 7 doesn't have Windows Live Messenger (very popular outside the US, including here in Brazil), but MS launched a WLM app for iOS.
WLM also works on dumbphones, Windows Mobile 6, BlackBerry and Symbian. why not WP7?

@Dafrety well, there's Microsoft Messenger for Mac, but the Windows version is better. (actually, I think even the iOS version is better)
