The best news is that the music player will be sold for very cheap, $99 with 2 years contract of only drinking pepsi products (the nanobots would kill you if you drink any coke within 2 years).

While it's true that most of the early title will be played like current generation games (just look at 360 games.... current gen games+ sweat drops), however the most important factor is that these consoles have much more raw powers. it's up to the developers, not sony or microsoft, to use those extra powers to create something that is impossible to create at previous generation consoles. which is why, this kind of technical demo is important, so that the developers realize what possibilities can be done with the PS3.
by using PS1 power, developers had created 3d platforming games, the kind of genre you would never think of at SNES era. by using PS2 and dreamcast power, developers had created a free roaming world ala GTA or shenmue.These is now a standard feature for most games. these feature, again, is unthinkable @ ps1, even N64 era.

my point is, developers will find a way to use the system extra power to create a new gaming concept.

Personally I wish revolution will be a hit, but remember, there are a lot of tech items that failed misserably because they are too ahead of its time.
