Schilling says he could lose $50 million of his own money in 38 Studios implosion [update: Chafee responds]

This is what Final Fantasy XIII looks like on Xbox 360
Feb 18th 2010 10:14PM (Joystiq)XIII I'll be picking up for the 360. And this doesn't look anywhere near bad enough to change my mind on it.
Graphics are great, but they don't make the game, play does. And along as it plays as well on the 360 as it does on the PS3, I don't think there's anything here to really complain about.

Nov 11th 2009 6:39PM (Joystiq)Baggy Sweatpants complete with oversized pockets (to fit a snack or two for those intense grind sessions when pausing the game just ain't gonna happen.)
White tee
White crew length socks (Unexpected drafts on the ankles during a busy boss fight can kill.)
Collared Fleece (gaming in the basement on cold nights suck. Keep it toasty.)

Hirai: PS3 Slim sold at a loss, but business profitable overall
Aug 25th 2009 4:44PM (Joystiq)Diehard Sony fans might buy a PS3 for Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, God of War or Uncharted, but those titles haven't helped Sony make much ground even at the $400 price point the 360 started with. And with big franchises like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear available to experience outside the PS3 now, that's not likely to change.
3 to 4 years into a console cycle is a bit late to try to breakout ahead of your competition. Just ask Microsoft about the first Xbox.
Hirai: PS3 Slim sold at a loss, but business profitable overall
Aug 25th 2009 12:34PM (Joystiq)That's a small market to rely on for reinvigorating your brand and it's smaller still when you consider that they've ruled out backwards compatibility completely for the future. That means most holdouts for the feature, including myself will either never buy a PS3 now, or will buy an early model second hand, leaving the PS3 Slim to the price holdouts which aren't a huge group.
Say what you will about the PS3's "superior" features, but those features haven't stopped people from picking up 360s and Wii's, and putting that feature set in a smaller form won't reverse the trend.
Hirai aiming to 'quickly' break-even on PlayStation hardware, looking to double PSN sales
May 29th 2009 11:34PM (Joystiq)The PS3 got a nice bump when Blu-Ray won the format war and it was the best and cheapest Blu-Ray player available, but now that you can get a final profile BD standalone for around $200 less than a PS3, there's no need to buy a PS3 for Blu-Ray either.
It's a console without a cause.
Flame on: PS3 a 'sinking ship' (PSP, too)
Dec 12th 2008 4:06PM (Joystiq)A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. If you don't care about Blu-Ray and simply want to get gaming TODAY for less, there's no way around it- The 360 IS cheaper. The line about having to spend more on 360 for comparative specs on a PS3 doesn't apply either when people don't care about those specs or are just fine adding certain features later. 360 has a better cost-value ratio. It's that simple.
And I say this having owning every major console for at least the last 2 generations, except of course the PS3. It just doesn't appeal to me enough to warrant a purchase. I could have gotten one for Blu-Ray, but it's no longer the only good option for Blu-Ray playback. I picked up a 2.0 standalone Blu-Ray player on Black Friday for $199. Looks damn good on the screen AND on the shelf next to my 360.
And before you say I could have had Blu-Ray AND games in the same device with a PS3: I got my 360 at launch in 2005.
I'll say it again: Money today is worth more than money tomorrow. Why do you think we came up with interest?
Rumor: Kojima Productions teases 'A Next Metal Gear'
Dec 7th 2008 6:26PM (Joystiq)i and ! are each 180 degrees from the other:
180 + 180 = 360
Green Power symbol with the familiar Metal Gear "!"
(which console is most known for the color green?)
Either Kojima is deliberately and intentionally doing this to torture 360 owners who are interested in having a Metal Gear title by miscuing a title slated for another platform...OR if you apply Occam's Razor, simplest explanation being the most likely....
Metal Gear in some form is coming to 360.

Keighley takes on Fox News' seXbox seXposé
Jan 22nd 2008 12:29AM (Joystiq)The only thing that scares me more than the ignorant "reporters" and pundits on Fox News is the thought that some people actually think there's real news on that channel.
Lying and having the nerve to call those lies news should be illegal. It's a disservice to the public. I feel like my IQ dropped two points from just watching that drivel.
And don't get me started on that panel...
The countdown to CES begins!
Jan 4th 2008 12:52PM (Engadget HD)I support HD DVD and I agree with some of the ideas you all put forward about innovations in the works this year for HD DVD, but the absolute venom you post with doesn't help the cause. It just makes you appear angry and makes it possible for people to write you off.
There's a more civil way to debate, and if you can't debate civilly, there's no point for you to debate because you've already lost.
Here is an example of how to get your point across:
"HD DVD gave a strong performance during 2007. While unable to break weekly sales ratio domination by Blu-ray, sales of HD DVD hardware grew and several HD DVD titles sold well over time regularly making the top ten HD sellers list.
Blu-ray dominance during 2007 in software sales ratios appears to be due to continued support from PS3 owners. With over 2 million PS3 owners a large number of Blu-ray releases and BOGO sales targeted specifically for the PS3 demographic, Blu-ray has exhibited an ability to outsell HD DVD software with around a 1.6:1 ratio. It remains to be seen however whether Blu-ray support can grow substantially outside the PS3 install base to avoid the same fate the UMD movie format was dealt on the PSP.
The PS3 effect is strong, but with HD DVD players largely available at sub $200-$250 prices, Warner appearing ready to reaffirm their continuing support for the format at CES and Twin Discs and TL51 on the horizon, the question of whether its support goes beyond a single demographic will be put to test."
The above points out the fact that HD DVD has performed strongly during 2007 despite the sales ratios, and still acknowledges the reality that Blu-ray did sell well while asking the obvious question of what it all means.
When you make reasonable points, people are more likely to see your point of view. It's painfully obvious that there are Blu-ray supporters who will do ANYTHING to skew the news, numbers and customers their way, but you don't win the heart and mind of J6P by attacking them with the same methods.
Just my .02. All's fair in love and war as it goes, so continue to fight the good fight, but please do it responsibly.
