Jan 6th 2007 10:40AM (Joystiq)"oh and one more thing so people know,
VGA is HDCP compliant!"
Please stop spreading ignorance and just STFU noob. VGA is an analog connection and is not HDCP compliant. Also anyone who thinks a hdmi dongle is so easy to do because there is unused pins on the multi out of the 360 also need to stop spreading ignorance. Please do some research. All the work arounds for hdcp is by purchasing a box that contains a hdcp chip for decoding and priced at 300+ with no guarantee that it will work in all hdcp cases. Obviously this new revision is mainly for the people who want to watch hd-dvd movies on their hd-dvd add-on(hdmi) and people who want to download movies (120GB hd).
The second Xbox 360 (with HDMI): introducing "Zephyr"
Jan 6th 2007 1:18AM (Joystiq)"when they do add HDMI support to the 360, you can be sure it will be in a way that current console owners can take advantage of."
Do you not see the picture in this blog?
It clearly shows an hdmi port which your 360 does not have, so obviously it is not going to be supported by the old 360. Also I have already stated that an hdmi cable without hdcp is worthless, unless you just want to use it for strictly gaming purposes.
"you don't need HDCP for gaming"
If you read my post prior to the one you quoted I specifically state that I agree it does not affect the 360 for gaming purposes. Unless you
Don’t have a TV with a vga input. Anyways my point was just to clarify that hdmi is important if you went ahead and purchased the hd-dvd drive. If you are going to use the 360 as an hd-dvd player you will run into problems with hdcp because an hdcp chip is required. Also to throw some more knowledge out there, you guys all know that without a
hdcp compliant player the resolution will be scaled down to 480p.
The second Xbox 360 (with HDMI): introducing "Zephyr"
Jan 5th 2007 6:09PM (Joystiq)If that is true why is the only way to bypass the hdcp encryption through a hardware "blackbox" which cost $400+ dollars and require a hdcp chip set? Also if it was so simple to bypass hdcp why are there so many people in the avforums speaking about the problems with current hdmi capable av receivers that will not be able to properly display hdcp content?
