Google Voice needs to start supporting MMS. Tough to rely on without it for me.

Google Voice will let you port your current phone number for $20 -- soon

Until Google Voice allows MMS, I can't fully rely on it as my catch-all number.

AOL spent more than $300 million on distributing free sign-up CDs

I was disappointed when they switched from free floppies to free CDs. Can't tell you how many of their floppies I reformatted and used for saving high school papers onto.

Microsoft Security Essentials 2 available for download, now an even better free antivirus for Windows

@Soupkin

I quit using MSE for the exact same reason. I like being in full control of what updates Microsoft pushes in Windows Update, yet I always want my AV to automatically update definitions. MS made those things mutually exclusive with MSE unfortunately for some power users so I went with Avast 5 (and recently switched over to Panda Cloud).

Eh, they're not. I don't agree with these tactics, but they're enforcing existing laws. Disagree with what they're doing, but let's not be intellectually dishonest with blanket non-statements like that.

Er...I haven't heard of any of those sites. Easy pickins. Low hangin fruit.

Here's a look at Google Chrome's new, simplified menu

Jun 25th 2010 11:43PM (Download Squad)
The extension menu, at the very least, needs a keyboard shortcut if not a small status bar button for easy access. Choices like these make me wonder if the developers use Chrome like a normal person ever, or if they're always in nuts-and-bolts development mode.

Time to stop laughing: Opera hits 50M users on desktop, over 100M total

Apr 12th 2010 1:10PM (Download Squad)
How do they define "users"? I downloaded Opera last year, for the first time in about 10 years, used it for 15 mins and went back to Chrome. Am I one of the 50 million desktop "users"? I'm all for the underdog, but I'm even more for openness and honesty.
