I wonder if the PS3 still supports SACD??? It was listed as a feature both at E3 '05, on the PS3 website, and at CES (in the form of the SACD symbol on the case). Granted, on the Sony PS3 website it was listed as a music only feature, but I don't see why games couldn't support it as well. That would be an outstanding audio upgrade.

#1 is right. This is old news not even worth posting. Accepting that 1 core will be "dead" (whether due to faulty production or deactivating a working SPE) equals higher production yields.

Though most of what Sony's been doing is a major cluster, manufacturing is one area Sony does have an advantage and I'm sure there's major differences in 7 SPE yields vs 8.

So, does this actually run the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC or Smartphone. The link doesn't specify. I am disappointed that it doesn't utilize the Q's blackberry-esque scroll wheel. That's very handy for e-mail navigation.

I read a research article recently that talked about how much bandwith Slingbox uses vs. normal EV-DO web browsing. A dozen handsets streaming video like that at the same location could dang near bring the network down to a trickle, so it's not surprise they were getting only 9fps.

#42, No, the $15 Sprint data plan includes EV-DO. It gives you whatever data service is in your area (so, if you don't have EV-DO in your town then you'll just get 1XRTT). I'm Soooo hoping this comes to Sprint, but I've yet to hear any sound proof that it is.

2 Questions:

1) At CES the UI was very choppy when scrolling the screen down (either in e-mail or on the main today view). Is this still a problem?

2) How well does Slingbox work with it and what kinda battery life do you get while using Slingbox?

haha...that's one of your best ones yet...but, as for the article, I would be absolutely stoked if this was coming to Sprint, but is there any real confirmation of that? I read the article as just saying the phone is coming out on EV-DO...which EV-DO is a technology Verizon and Sprint offer. Remember, Sprint only recently began carrying Motorola phones again and I would be very surprised if the Q was one of their first ones. With the 700p coming and possibly the 700w, I doubt the Q will be landing on Sprint shelves anytime soon.

That's not all bad though. With $10B in cash sitting on their Balance Sheet and $10B a year in Operating Cash Flow they can certainly afford to do it. And, $250M-$500M for this Shentel is a drop in the bucket compared to Nextel Partners. Granted, Nextel Partners is said to have the highest revenue per subscriber...but $6B?

What's more interesting is, how will they deploy new networks without affiliates? Telecoms use affiliates to help share the burden of rolling out networks. So, if you're putting out a new network (like WiMax, DVB, etc), the affiliates help play a major roll in funding that. Now, the more they buy up these companies, the more of that burden they'll have to bare.
