Survey gauges interest in potential future Assassin's Creed features

Dec 5th 2010 3:51PM (Joystiq)
@SamE Thinking about this a bit more, so many incredible characters, locations and events to use... The Sun King, Versailles and the winding old streets of Paris, before Hausseman had his way, storming the Bastille (less dramatic than most people think it was, they were just looking for ammo rather than freeing the prisoners... the 7 or 8 people who were locked up just took advantage of the situation and got out.)

Survey gauges interest in potential future Assassin's Creed features

@SamE I've been saying revolutionary France for a while now. So many murders, so much violence and betrayal, such a massive uprising against authority that didn't actually come to anything until another 60 or 70 years after... ça serait fort, non?

David O. Russell talks about his vision for the Uncharted movie

Dec 1st 2010 6:12PM (Joystiq)
"Yeah, so I was thinking about the idea of a really intense human drama about this guy and his son. The son is from a previous marriage, but his mother leaves and the kid gets really close to the father's new girlfriend, like she basically BECOMES his mother. So, they're a lot closer to each other than either of them is to the dad, and I guess the son's relationship with the girlfriend is the only thing keeping her with the Dad. But then the girlfriend is killed in a bus fire and the father and son have to come to terms with their new situation... then I found out the studio had optioned Tempest and, well, the rest is history!"

This film is going to be a total disgrace.

HTC Hero gets Android 2.1 update across Europe (update: nope, not 2.1 yet)

And those of us running the Magic (MyTouch 3G for the Merkins) are still left out. Fortunately, I'm not a sissy, so I'm running CyanogenMod 5.0.8test4, but for the normal people who fear bricking/don't know what bricking is, it's still a pipe dream.

Orange and T-Mobile become Everything Everywhere (in the UK)

@AMcUK
Flat county, city of 350k, I'm guessing we're talking about Norfolk/Narch. I've always been Vodafone in Norwich and had no problems whatsoever. The time I've spent in London on Voda has been pretty great, and when I used to be on T-mobile, it was a bit poo, but that was 3 or 4 years ago...

BBC bringing Doctor Who: The Adventure Games to PC, Mac

Apr 8th 2010 11:03AM (Joystiq)
I thought Matt Smith was flipping brilliant this week. Definitely up to filling the role.

Plus, did anyone else think the whole thing just looked better? Granted, the CGI was still poop, but it was shot far better.

As for the game, we'll wait and see. There's potential for something wonderful, but it could all go horribly wrong. Try not to flop, Auntie!

Screen Grabs: Blackberry Storm saves the world in new Doctor Who

Apr 4th 2010 7:24PM (Engadget)
I thought Smith was terrific. Yet another brilliant UEA graduate... other notable actors are Charlie Higson, Paul Whitehouse and Jack Davenport (Davenport worked on one of Moffat's other major series, Coupling. A pattern emerges...)

HTC Magic's Sense update ready for download

Jan 29th 2010 8:02AM (Engadget)
@MilO81 Annoyingly, the HTC phone sync software won't even recognise the phone, so serial tinkering probably wont do anything. I'm running XP through VMWare Fusion on Snow Leopard, but it just won't recognise the phone.

HTC Magic's Sense update ready for download

Jan 29th 2010 6:47AM (Engadget)
OK, I'm running a "with Google" branded HTC Magic on SFR in France. I chucked my serial number at the site and it said that the download wasn't suitable for my phone. What gives?

BBC wants back into the game biz

Jan 23rd 2010 6:34AM (Joystiq)
Shame it would be such a challenge to develop cool stuff like Spooks or Life On Mars/Ashes to Ashes. Life On Mars would be fantastic: detective-y segments, car chases and shoot-outs/beat-em-up bits. I'd love that.
