Xboy's iPod murder plot exposed, will involve major online media service

Jul 11th 2006 10:45AM (Joystiq)
Guys, The DS lite has outsold the PSP since it's release. Furthermore the DS and Ds lite have both outsold the psp in Japan. Worldwide sales of the DS are approaching PS2-like sales numbers, that is phenomenal for handheld. Software sales are skyrocketing, the DS already has over 10 million selling games and more are on the way.

The problem with the Xboy that no one seems to be talking about is that Rare and Nintendo are collaberating on a games for the DS. This could be one game or more than one.

The reason I doubt this article is because the Wii and the PS3 are both launching in November. If those consoles have great launch titles than the 360 will be in trouble, especially in japan and europe. These are areas where the Xbox 360 is not selling well.

Joystiq Interview: Epic's Cliff Bleszinski

May 21st 2006 11:54PM (Joystiq)
I have to agree with Elle. If you are not going to put the game on the show floor at E3, why go. E3 is what E3 is for. Nintendo successfully demoed some games for the Wii and had a 4 hr wait each day but it did not stop them. They set a time limit and had attendants to enforce it. I'm starting to think that maybe you guys wanted Cliffy to take you on a prom date. Especially the guy that called him a hottie. That is sick.
Futhermore, when he stated that the Wii must have a compelling fps underneath. I hope he was not talking about the "no plot", "run and gun" unrealtournament games. Those games are not compelling at all.

Wiimote controller or Xbox Live? Which is the bigger innovation?

May 4th 2006 9:46PM (Joystiq)
How can Xbox Live be innovative? All Microsoft did was copy what blizzard did for the Pc with battle net or what Gamespy did for the Pc with the Gamespy Arcade. All Microsoft did was imitate what was done for the Pc and implemented it on a console. That’s not innovative at all.

The Wii control is unlike anything that has come before it. It can manipulate 3D space,
It can respond to hand gestures, and both the “nunchuck” attachment and the free hand remote are motion sensitive (http://wii.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=6601). These features are beyond what current and past generation controllers can do. That’s true innovation regardless of what definition a person chooses to use.

Unreal Engine 3 MIA on Revolution?

Mar 29th 2006 10:18PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Correct me if I am wrong, Midway is using the Unreal 3 engine to develop a first person shooter for all three next generation platforms, PS3, Xbox360, and the Revolution.

What is going on with Epic? I think they've lost their touch.

Unreal Engine 3 MIA on Revolution?

Mar 29th 2006 10:07PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The Gamecube did support the Unreal Engine 2.5, which was used in Splinter cell: chaos theory. Therefore the Revolution would be able to handle the Unreal 3 engine. I think epic is upset becasue Nintendo did not license the Unreal 3 engine. Whether if it is ture or not, the question remains, Why would a developer develop a watered down game. Especially since Epic has not had a hit game in the console market. The games that were developed for the Xbox met with mild or no success.
A developer of Epic's stature should be making the highest quality game that they can. But then again they may not care about their reputation and the fact that they may lose fans.

Radeon equivalent to Xbox 360 over $500

Jan 30th 2006 2:53PM (Joystiq Xbox)
This article is bull. PC graphic cards of today can produce graphics better looking than the Xbox 360. Just go look at games like FEAR or Half-life 2: The Lost Coast or FarCry with the 1.3 update. Nothing on the Xbox 360 or PS3 will compare to that. All Microsoft and Sony have done is add support for their respective GPUs to display games at a resolution of 1280 by 720 or 1920 by 1080. PC graphic cards have been able to do this since the Ati 8500 was introduced. Current graphic cards from ATI and Nvidia support a max resolution of 2048x1536@85Hz.

Furthermore console GPUs are different from PC GPUs, The Architecture is completely different. Therefore a comparison of the two really can not be made.

PCs are optimized. All PCs follow the Intel X86 standard. This means that all CPUs, Graphic cards, Sound Cards, Networking Cards, and etc will work with all motherboards that support the hardware. For instance AGP graphic cards will work with all AGP Motherboards and All PCIE graphic cards will work with all PCIE Motherboards.

Next time do a little research about PCs before making such outlandish claims
