JoyStats: Reaching Rank 50 in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 takes about 282 hours

Dec 18th 2010 9:52PM (Joystiq)
Rank 50 took me 300 hours about. And I have a SPM of 300 even. If you wanna find out how long it takes, take your SPM (score per minute, it's one of your stats) and do 5400000/(SPM*60)

What's really sickening is games like Forza 3. Nothing but driving around licensed cars. So what if it's realistic that you'd be driving a Ferrari in a racing game, it's freaking advertising.

It's about the game. If you're really into it like I am, you don't stop playing just because you unlocked all the weapons. Gaining ranks it just a way to show off your skill and dedication, which mean a lot to us big fans.

Also, judging from this guy's calculations, the average Score-per-minute is around 180. (Rank 30 taking 100 hours, needing 1,090,000 pts... 1,090,000/6000 minutes = 181 SPM)

So, if you look at your stats, you can get an idea on how much of an earner you are. Violent and fast players get over 250 SPM. Truly elite (or avid healers) get over 350 SPM... cheaters usually range over 500 SPM.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIP Map Pack 3 almost ready for deployment [update]

Apr 22nd 2010 11:04PM (Joystiq)
I feel like conquest in BFBC2 is sort of poor in comparison to previous BF games, while Rush has been improved. In BFBC1, to those who don't know, the defense almost always won. Only when the teams were really unbalanced for the attackers did they ever win. I mean, winning on the attacking side of a 5-base map was very rare, while 3-base maps were somewhat uncommon.

Rush in BFBC2 is much more balanced where attacks are defeated probably 60% of the time.

I personally used to play conquest in BFBC1 probably 80% of the time. Now in BFBC2 I'd guess 55% rush, 15% conquest, 15% squad deathmatch, and 5% in squad rush, which I've only played a handful of times since it was unlocked.

Also, to those who are wondering, all of the VIP maps are probably locked and already on the disc. Nothing so much as a title update is needed to unlock them. So it's a terrible method... which I can overlook because I love this game so much (rank 35, skill level 198-200, 1.92 k/d, 1.75 win/loss, 290 spm)

Last note: I hope they bring back some older maps from the series... Strike at Karkand (BF2), Wake Island, Acta Non Verba (BC1), Ascension conquest (BC1), Oasis conquest (BC1). They'd all be great.

I plan to reach level 50. Also, about 70% of the people who hit level 50 are cheaters at the time of writing. Career stat padders who have like 1000 kills, not the 25,000-30,000 expected.

Also, I'm rank 35 and have played for 116 hours, I'm above the curve, scoring a lot faster.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 TV ad features explosions, accolades

Yeah, exactly. Josh Homme is anything but generic.

If you want generic rock music, listen to anything that Joe Satriani is involved with.

Goozex kicks off half-price sale

Pfft, good luck trying to get a new game. They're usually in very high demand, so it may take a bit of waiting until you get your chance.

Also, love Goozex, I got rid of a ton of games I never touch anymore and gave nearly 4000 points on my account. Heh-heh.

DICE explains Battlefield Bad Company 2 dedicated server rentals

Jan 19th 2010 1:08AM (Joystiq)
Server rentals were used for Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142. Servers were rented by clans and gaming websites, where they are allowed to have private slots and customize map rotation and scoring limits. If you play BF2 today, you'll see how this all works just fine (yes, people are still paying for rental servers for a game that is nearly 5 years old, and they've never really complained).

Dude, if you had a brain stem you'd remember this is how BF2 worked. If you ever looked into it, you'd understand why all the RANKED servers are run by clans, websites, etc, and often ask for donations and stuff. This is nothing new at all.

They need to charge for ranked servers because they need to be secured. Otherwise they'd be hacked and the whole ranking system would fall apart, ruining gameplay.

This was the policy for 2005's Battlefield 2, hundreds of individual clans and gaming websites would pay for their own ranked servers. EA/DICE provide probably 20% of the ranked servers, while the rest are purchased.

Individual people don't rent servers, large clans and websites do. JUST PLAY Battlefield 2 on PC and you'll see EXACTLY how this works (and has always worked).
