BBFC defends rating system after Microsoft exec. remark

Feb 27th 2008 2:00PM (Joystiq)
BBFC gave Crackdown the 15 rating, lower than the majority of the world, because it was cartoony, satirical, and all just a bit of fun. This is more sensible than any other rating board decision I've heard about in years. BBFC all the way.

Atlus announces Persona 3 FES for the US on April 22

Feb 25th 2008 1:25PM (Joystiq)
The original isn't even out here yet. It's a 2005 game and it's coming out this friday. I know Europe can expect to be treated like crap by Japanese companies (the main reason I switched to 360 after the PS2), but this is more than taking the piss.

DS Daily: How goes the war, soldier?

Pity the Game Night was before the game was out in Europe. :( But me and a fair few of my mates here in the UK have been loving this since its Friday release.

Okami Wii-ports for duty on March 25

Jan 17th 2008 8:23AM (Joystiq)
Ushiwaka, that's the one. I'd play a spinoff game about him :P

As for difficulty, I suppose, but I found ALTTP to be fairly average on that level, and I was a kid back in the nineties (though sometimes these things just make more sense when you're young, heh). A better "first Zelda" for difficulty is probably Link's Awakening or Minish Cap, I guess. PH was just too much of a repetitive cakewalk for me to get much enjoyment from it.
Also, FF6 (calling it the SNES' FF3 just confuses things) hard? Maybe in the very very late stages of the game, but that's still one of the easiest RPGs to date. FF3 on the NES (and now DS), however, is tough as nails.

Okami Wii-ports for duty on March 25

Phantom Hourglass, the best Zelda ever? With its repetitive "redo the whole dungeon again" mechanic, the gimmicky sailing minigame, and the obligatory godawful stealth sections - to mention but a few of the obvious flaws? Let's not be silly. It's not even close to being the best 2D Zelda, let alone best Zelda ever.
But Okami, I found, was a truly refreshing game in the Zelda genre. There should really be more games in it, since it's a great game style, and frankly I'm kind of tired of the whole generic elf dude in generic western medieval fantasy land #3.
Finally - The guy with the green laser sword thing is totally awesome. Fave character.

Five gifts that PAL gamers should import this Christmas

Dec 14th 2007 6:22PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Don't know how they think they'll ever discourage people from importing when the games come out so many months before the UK in the US, and for cheaper - even with import fees. And here I used to think £30 ($61) for a DS game was the height of cheap gaming. Totally importing Contra & Revenant Wings.

Freeverse bringing Airburst to XBLA

Oct 26th 2007 7:48AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Wow, Marathon 2 and now Airburst... this company must get a kick out of porting Mac games to XBLA! :P Now let's hope for Escape Velocity...
