The Political Game: The Battle of Britain

Oct 12th 2007 1:24PM (Joystiq)
It's a lamentable state of affairs that sees public opinion fall on the side of condoning and encouraging censorship in a creative industry. I frankly thought British society had gotten over this with the whole video nasty scare. We can only hope it doesn't get too much worse, else it'll be a truly sad time to be a UK gamer.

Joystiq hands-on: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

Oct 12th 2007 4:38AM (Joystiq)
Anyone who went back and played the early games post-DBZ, for sure. Now all we need is an initially evil 'hedgehog' who eventually teams up with the current one and can also go Super-oh. Right.
Or another one from the future who comes back to prevent a worldwide disaster and can also go Super-ah. Yes.
Looks like Sega's got it covered.

Kirby Super Star coming to DS

That's the very reason why I am happy that it's on DS after all :)

Kirby Super Star coming to DS

Finally, a rerelease of the greatest Kirby game of all time, on a console it suits! :) Though a VC release would've perhaps been nicer (what with the reduced cost and the wonderful Classic Controller).

Freak out: Halo 3 arrives tonight

Sep 24th 2007 4:20PM (Joystiq)
Living in the UK means I've got a further 24 hours to wait for my haloez, but it means little since my 360 is, as you put it so well, 'in the shop'. I'll still be buying it though (pity me, for I am a tool - doing this to contribute to launch day sales), and holding it tight through those cold, lonely nights without a 360 to play it on.

Well, even if you don't get the position, applying definitely helps fill your portfolio, might even help with future applications.

Gamestop shenanigans sell open games as 'new'

Mar 25th 2007 4:09PM (Joystiq)
This is what every store I've been to around my home (in London, UK) has been doing since 2004 for every non-portable game.
I thought it was just that they were getting shipments of Game Disc & Manual (in a plastic wallet, identical in every store) inside the box, then they take those out (not opening the see-through plastic wallet), and use the empty case as a display case - when they come to put the manual and game disc in, its still inside the plastic wallet, therefore still unopened, and they don't even take it out then and there, but leave that up to you.
I don't really get what's bad about this...

DS Daily: Router issues and WiFi problems

I use an Apple Airport and I can get an albeit weak signal from two floors above the Airport unit. When next to it, I get a very strong signal and have no trouble connecting to the WiFi and playing lag free cross-atlantic matches.

DS Daily: What's your favorite WiFi game?

Feb 24th 2007 10:36AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Bleach DS (sadly not yet the sequel), with Tetris DS holding 2nd place. A distant third is Mario Kart (which is only really fun within your friends' list, as snakers pollute the general community)... LostMagic, Metroid Prime Hunters and Clubhouse Games didn't really make any lasting impression on me.

DS Daily: what's your favorite kind of game?

Feb 8th 2007 9:13AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
My 'Top 3' as it were are probably RPG first, action/platform second, and puzzle/pick-up-and-play as a close third. The Mario & Luigi RPGs, in addition to the Golden Sun games and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance have kept me going through many a long car journey and lazy afternoon.
As for the second, I'm mostly referring to the Metroid series (Fusion in particular - linearity is far more desirable in a portable title) and Castlevania, but the odd game such as Lunar Knights can be good portable fun too.
Finally, the next is there because frankly, I can't get enough of Tetris DS. The Versus CPU mode is a fantastic Tetris-trainer of sorts, and adds a real purpose that was sometimes missing when just trying to get a bigger number than you had before. Obviously the Wi-Fi (when available) Versus is also a very, very nice addition to the game.
More games in these three types would make me a very happy bunny while on the go.
