What "Gubbins" would be required for IPTV recording? We're probably talking 6-8mbps, no more being copied off the network and onto the disk. I don't think thatjust recording IPTV is any more demanding than handling a fast download. That's when acting as a DVR. Playback and live viewing is a different matter, but in those cases, you have the box's undivided attention.
What I'm fairly certain won't happen is real-time transcoding of content to a lower bitrate. That would not play nice with games, for sure.
