Goddamn you all, you $60-game-affording oil slicksters.

CMT: Roy Orbison is ready to rock Rock band

Dec 24th 2008 12:20AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I know that the article is calling Orbison a country singer because the DLC announcement came from CMT, but I'd call him a rocker first and foremost. He may have had rockabilly roots but but this is actually the first time I've ever heard anyone label him a country singer.

Fanswag: Holiday Wish List Giveaway (Part 2)

Nov 25th 2008 7:59PM (Joystiq Xbox)
One of my favorite holiday gaming moments was Christmas 1998 when I finally got an N64 and was also blessed with Ocarina of Time. The whole family sat around to watch me play, and it's made some of them Zelda fans ever since!

Opinion: Why I can't go beyond the first 5 mins of Call of Duty: World At War

Nov 10th 2008 4:23PM (Joystiq)
I think that the same disassociation you hold between the labels of Nazi and German is similarly held by many other people between the Japanese Empire (government and military) and the Japanese people (civilians). I may be optimistic here but I don't believe that people in general connect modern-day Japanese nor Japanese-Americans with the Empire of Japan any more than they connect modern-day Germans and German-Americans with the Nazi regime.

Bottom line, the Japanese Empire was one of the major Axis Powers, committed atrocities on the same level as the Nazis, and a WWII game about the Pacific Theater can't ignore that. I don't see a need to apply modern-day context to the events of WWII, though including the Nisei Regiment in the game would be a most welcome idea.
