Mar 13th 2011 6:19PM (Joystiq)Gonna have to agree, as much as I had a "in your face 360 fanboys" attitude, I did wonder why they left the 360 out.
My guess is it has to do with the openness of the playstation network compared to xbox live. From the articles I have read, developers have been rather unsatisfied with microsoft, as things like publishing updates for games costs a lot for the devs, and they also have to stick to all of microsofts rules regarding things like matchmaking. Compare that to the playstation network, where whether than develop a solid matchmaking system, sony sat back and had a "do whatever you want, its your game attitude", which often times is a negative point when most games only have low quality pc-style server lists, but other times is a huge pro because it allows the openness to integrate with other things and come up with cool ideas.
Look at what konami did on mgs4. They integrated your konami account and psn account when playing that game. It totally sucked and it was annoying how much crap you had to register just to play but it showed what companies could do.
CryEngine 3 GDC tech demo is all kinds of futuristic
Mar 7th 2011 4:22PM (Joystiq)Clearly you didn't play around with the Sandbox editor in Crysis. In Crysis 1 I was able to do all the cool lighting stuff the tech demos showed with just an 8800gt and 3GHz Phenom 2.
