Firm considers class action over Xbox Live bannings

Nov 19th 2009 7:45PM (Joystiq)
When the gaming community doesn't care about these people, what chance would they have in court against MS? I just hope that MS doesn't settle with the suit. If anything, I hope that MS counter-sues on the count of the original suit being frivolous.

Game Informer: Xbox 360 at 54.2 percent failure rate

Aug 18th 2009 12:15AM (Joystiq)
I've had three fail on me but I've actually had very good customer service. Microsoft did a great job of taking care of the shipping costs and, at first, even the box.

While it would be great if it never broke down, I would say that I feel good about owning a system that was tended to each time it ran into issues.

While I'm happy to see that MS has such great customer service, I would like to see them put that effort into upgrading the design to something that doesn't break down so often.

Ebert thinks games are 'getting a lot better', prefers knitting to gaming

Dec 13th 2008 10:38PM (Joystiq)
As with his movie reviews, I don't agree with everything that he says. He is a good critic but simply doesn't appreciate video games.

This doesn't make him a bad critic, a bad person or any less intelligent than professionals of any field.

I would like to see his return to doing movie reviews but don't really see the point to seeing him review games in much the same maner as I wouldn't look to him to review the quality and value of a new car.

That said, there is a great deal of art that goes into designing a car as well.

Xbox 360 still open to Blu-ray add-on should HD-DVD fail

Jan 9th 2008 1:02PM (Joystiq)
What I would like to see is Microsoft selling a dual format player. I like the performance and reliability of HD DVD but, after the Warner decision, I see most of the content on BluRay. As I've stated before, the only way to not be left out as a consumer is to have a player that supports both formats. For under $300, I'd buy it.

GameSpot issues short comment on Gerstmann firing

Nov 30th 2007 4:06PM (Joystiq)
I've always liked Jeff's reviews. With Kasavin no longer working at Gamespot, Jeff was the editor I trusted most with a video game review. Keeping in mind that Gamespot's review scores were a little lower than the average, they were consistent and thus reliable.

I did get to see his review and don't find it to be a departure from his other reviews. More so than that, it is in line with the way movies are reviewed by the most reputable of film critics. The notion that he was fired because of the review calls into question the integrity of the review site.

I am greatly disappointed.

Joystiq Asks: What features should MS spring for the Fall Update?

Oct 30th 2007 6:08AM (Joystiq)
I'd like to see support for Xvid along with other codecs. Mpeg 1 and 2 support would be awesome as well.

It would also be great if we could design our own gamerpics and themes. It would be pretty cool to see my vacation pictures each of on my blades.

Are poor box office sales Halo 3's fault?

Yet, they didn't want to make a Halo movie?

I watched it from beginning to end and still don't know what to think of it.

Sony's Jack Tretton: 'We don't buy exclusivity'

Jul 4th 2007 7:15AM (Joystiq)
For any one who can remember, Sony paid Midway 10 million dollars to have Mortal Kombat 3 be a six month exclusive to the original Playstation and only allowed on the prior gen systems before the end of those six months. Now, they talk like doing that is beneath them. How easily we forget.

Fortune: Nintendo is beating Microsoft and Sony

May 31st 2007 4:00PM (Joystiq)
I own an Xbox 360 and was contemplating getting a Wii. I think the controller is interesting but it seems like it lacks any games I'll want to play. The only perk is that it's quite a bit cheaper than the other consoles.

On the other hand, I might get a DS if nothing more than to have my own copy of Brain Age. I really like that game.
