I'm not sure I completely understand your point. Every lefty here is fine with higher fuel prices "because people in Europe pay so much more for gas." Pailin saw an opportunity to generate more revenue for her state by raising taxes and she took it. Its not like Alaska has a bunch of other things going for it. Why do you think we made it a state other than being able to see Russia from your own backyard. (I kid, I kid)

Obviously the oil companies were willing to pay it but the federal government stepped in and said no to expansion anyway. The story stated it was "a major increase in taxes on the oil industry" but never declared what their definition of major is. The final numbers in the story appear to be huge but are they? For me, buying a top of the line iPad is a major expense, however to a millionaire it's a quart of water over Niagara Falls. Am I for higher taxes? No. The oil companies don't care. Why? Simple, all they'll do is pass the cost on to us.

I don't like what she did but it doesn't answer the question why was it cool for Obama to say the same thing Pailin was vilified for? All of her "pals" are going to make money no matter what. Only difference right now is currently the only pal set to make money is Obama's, George Soros. I don't know how Pailin feels about our energy security, but I'd take a bet she is more concerned than Soros is.

I am in agreement about nuclear though. I hope the higher-ups take a realistic look at everything once things get back to normal.

jsmeagle5, I remember growing up being a punk rocker in high school hating Reagan and Reaganomics too. While listening to songs about how bad Reagan was my buddies and I would sit around and write songs about how bad Reagan was. A funny thing then happened, I graduated high school and joined the real world.

Working my first few years I continued to hate Reagan until one day I woke-up. Almost overnight my situation improved and my outlook on life changed for the better. I stopped serving fries and started managing multi million accounts. I have a pretty good life compared to my friends who are stuck in the "80's hate" of something they don't understand.

Some day you'll wake-up also....

Obama's new saying should be "Drill baby, drill. As long as you're from Brazil."

My question to the lefties, why was Palin vilified for drilling but "it's cool" when Obama says it?

coupefan & bfb20706, Bush inherited the Tech Bubble Burst and a weakened intelligence department, so if you wanted you could push "the blame" back to Clinton. As for the whole housing collapse, that can be originated back to Carter, and put on steroids by Clinton.

I'm not a huge fan of Bush, but all things considering you have to be a fool to say Obama is a better friend to the automotive industry than Bush...

So I guess we're going to have a crap-load load of tanks, planes, ships, Hummers, construction equipment, emergency vehicles, etc. sitting where ever because the closest "alternative" refueling point is (hundreds/thousands of) miles away?

When are we going to start increasing our domestic drilling? Everything he has done since taking office has been to the contrary.

I was recently in Iowa where wind was "reliable" energy source. There were wind farms along 15 - 20 miles of interstate. The result? One customer of ours told us how his energy costs increased 17% due to this alternative energy push.

Hey everything he said sounds great, who wouldn't want all of this? In reality it doesn't currently work and it is not ready for prime time. Make sure it works before forcing it on the masses, i.e. ethanol.

When gas was this price before the narrative from the media was "Bush helping his oil buddies". Since gas is again approaching similar pricing does it mean Obama is helping his oil buddies?

Actually he is and the silence from the major media outlets is deafening....

Ducati reveals Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak Special Edition *UPDATE

Mar 9th 2011 9:58PM (Autoblog)
I owned a Multistrada 1000, and IMHO this version is a million times better looking. Check it out sometime when you have the time and you'll see what I mean. :-)

Something has to be wrong. There is no way they will sell a $22K Multistrada without a Termignoni exhaust kit. What generally happens is the exhaust comes with the bike but is not installed by Ducati. The dealer has to install it to get around EPA regulations. It's that way for several of the other bikes. I'm sure (hope) this is something that's lost in translation.
