Finally: Snoop Dogg is rolling onto Rock Band
Feb 10th 2009 11:20PM (Joystiq)N*E*R*D
The Roots
Limp Bizkit
I DEFINITELY think that N*E*R*D's "She Wants to Move", "Maybe", "Anti-Matter", and "Spazz" would play great, have some fun basslines, cool guitar breaks, and give the drummers of the world some fun beats to play out.

Apr 22nd 2008 5:06PM (Joystiq)Newsweek's Croal on RE5: 'Wow, clearly no one black worked on this game'
Apr 11th 2008 6:03PM (Joystiq)The reason a group of investors got together to create a BET is because there wasn't a parity in representation for black people on other networks.
I can't stand what BET's become, but to suggest that there was a sepratist agenda as work is at best naive and at worst disingenuous.
Newsweek's Croal on RE5: 'Wow, clearly no one black worked on this game'
Apr 11th 2008 4:01PM (Joystiq)I feel sorry for you.
That said, it's 40 years since King's death and I'm pretty sad this discussion of race (a reality) can't transpire without the namecalling and vitriol that's run through this thread.
Newsweek's Croal on RE5: 'Wow, clearly no one black worked on this game'
Apr 11th 2008 2:39PM (Joystiq)I think Croal's assesment of this situation was fair and FAR from an inditment of Capcom or RE5. And it's the perfect opportunities for us, as fans/consumers/advocates of gaming to have a reasoned discussion on issues of representation in gaming.
We often cry about the way the game industry has been marginalized in the press, been blamed for instances of violence, and regarded for years by the mainstream press as a "diversion for children". And the breakout of the Wii and the explosive growth of the past 2 years have seen great strides in the perception of the industry. We're getting closer to seeing videogames regarded as a medium on par with film, television and music as popular artform.
That said, the cop-out "It's just a game excuse" won't fly if we're hailing a work like "Bioshock" for the artistic choices in aesthetic and its' exploration of objectivism, then a series like Resident Evil is subject to the same examination of artistic objectives.
Was the game maliciously constructed to plant the hatred of blacks? Most likely not.
But if we want others to regard the gaming industry as more than purveyors of smut and it's consumers as more than a swath of hyper-stimulated, violence prone basement dwellers, it'd probably do us some good to actively critique the industry and it's depictions of women, ethnic groups and GLBT.
Sonic Unleashed Gameplay Video? [Update]
Mar 23rd 2008 12:00AM (Joystiq Xbox)I want this game so bad. I founds myself gasping at various points much the same way I did nearly 10 years ago in early '99 when I saw the killer whale sequence on an import copy of Sonic Adventure.
The level design seems to be devoid of the 'gotcha'-style gaps that were present in "Sonic Heroes" and what I could bear to play of Sonic 2006. If Sega can excersice some MUCH NEEDED restraint by keeping the laundry list of friends out (Knuckles can stay) and keep the experience about the speed and great setpieces, they may be able to shake 60 bucks out of this old fan.

Feb 26th 2008 4:35PM (Cinematical)I guess I must've dozed off during the CNN debates where he threatened to go upside Hillary's head if the next primary where that b*tch didn't have his money/delegates.
