New MGS4 trailer is up for your pleasure

Aug 23rd 2006 3:53PM (Joystiq)
First, people chanting for "IN GAME" have a reason to, because I think they mean "game-play footage" but don't quite know what they are talking about yet. This NOT being gameplay footage, it would be nice to see. That said, clearly this is the "IN-GAME ENGINE"-yes, but it is not gameplay...see the difference? Good!

Second, did anyone who made comments solely on the graphics they were seeing actually watch? I did, and there were two things I didn't quite like about those organic mini-metal gear things.
1) They were mech cows...WTF
2) They all got together in the end and had a good piss/sh**/orgasm/scat or whateverTF that was, left me with a serious WTF?! face.
30 Left me wondering if Snake will have to milk one of these things.

"Violent Pac-Man" researcher responds

Aug 23rd 2006 3:10PM (Joystiq)
Assuming Pac-man is chasing GHOSTS, one would think that ghosts are already dead. So...how is Pac-man eating a blue ghosts violent?

Now if Pac-man were to eat...I don't know, BABIES or Kittens, I might think that had some violent-esque qualities.

Anything can be considered violent.
-Lullabies--
"...The cradle will fall, and down will come baby, cradle and all"
-Children's stories-
-Hansel and Gretel- they get lost in the woods and come across a witch's house, that EATS CHILDREN, and in turn trys to eat them, but instead fails and is BURNED ALIVE.
-Little Red Riding Hood- Goes to her Grandmother's place, only to find shes been EATEN by a wolf that wants to EAT HER as well...

Pac-man violent?....everything is!

Romanowski to grace cover of new Blitz [update 1]

Aug 22nd 2006 12:57PM (Joystiq)
Ncdign,

I think you've completely missed the point of what "Blitz" is. Romanowski is the ONLY real NFL face that makes sense for this "style" of football game.

In short, Romaowski=Blitz

Console games make list of 10 things you shouldn't buy new

Aug 21st 2006 2:30PM (Joystiq)
The last time I bought used was Tekken 3. The sound was shit, and occasionally the screen would flicker.

I am forever wary of used games...No matter how good the deal is I can't stop thinking "Why was this returned?...Could I be getting another Lemon...? Not gonna find out"

Catching up with Kaz and the PS3 [update 1]

Aug 19th 2006 2:35PM (Joystiq)
Kaz is puting on a happy face for investors, nothing more.

If he and Sony gave a damn about gamers, (ie the ones supplying their investors with money) then at some point along their disastrous PR trail they would have said "yea, we screwed up here, here, and here--we are working on it."---I would have respected that.

Maxim lists top game toilets

First one I thought of was in Metal Gear Solid when snake sees the guy talking about how he hates Alaska while sitting on the pooper...

I was also thinking Doom III...hearing the creepy whispers in the corner in the shitter gives me stage fright just thinking about it.

Project Offset nabs publisher, looks for 360 programmer

Aug 12th 2006 11:40PM (Joystiq)
I've been following project offset since I saw them on G4...Their game will decide which platform I play on.

Should I pick up my 360 now, or wait until after the inevitable Sony fanboy rebuttal to the article titled:

"New PS3 Doom & Gloom: Project Offset developers ask "Sony Who?"."

G4TV's blog strikes back at the Game Rag [update 1]

Jul 26th 2006 12:15AM (Joystiq)
I will only watch Cinematech, Gamemakers, and I used to really enjoy X-Play (until they figured out most people watch x-play so they re-run every episode 100 times a day).
Cheat is sort of fun to watch for how a game you don't have plays...but it is useless to actually use the info from the show.
Attack of the show is boring as hell, and they market it as if it's THE show that's ontop of every detail within the industry...rrriiigghht.
I haven't decided yet whether it's a good or bad thing that I won't be getting G4 in my cable once I move next week.

Is your PC rig ready for Crysis?

Jul 25th 2006 1:09AM (Joystiq)
Are the minimum requirements truly minimum?

I bought my 1GHz AMD Compaq computer just over 6.5 years ago…back when 1GHz was OMFGpnwedtehroxorz!!!...I’ve only done minor memory and GPU upgrades since…but I haven’t touched it in about 3 years. I think I had 512 of crap memory, and an Nvidia something or other…whatever was 2 steps under top of the line in Nvidia GPU’s 3.5 years ago.

Last year I loaded Half-Life 2 and to my COMPLETE surprise, the game played pretty well (considering)…the frame rate never dipped below the “god dammit!” level. I was able to get through the game with no headaches.

Doom III played less smooth but still played. Graphical affects were turned to near minimum but not quite.

And my game of choice before finally bowing out PC gaming was CoD: United Offensive; which I was surprisingly able to run close to all graphical bells and whistles with 32+ players online.

Hell…I’d try Crysis just for kicks like I tried Doom III and Half-Life 2 if it weren’t for the fact that my computer doesn’t have a DVD drive.

PS…I’m currently using my fiancé’s new Dell for all my computer needs and using the aforementioned computer for shits and nostalgia.
