Xbox 360 gets backwards compatibility update

Jul 13th 2007 7:51AM (Joystiq)
It would be easyer for us if they put a cartidge port in the Wii that accepted N64, SNES and NES games carts. They could have spent the extra money they should have spent developing NEW hardware on an all-in-one Nintendo machine of the past chip and stuck it in the Wii. But instead they chose to rape the ass off everyone with the Gamecube 1.5 and "Virtual Console". You can pick up most of the VC games FAR cheaper on ebay as REAL carts.

Xbox 360 gets backwards compatibility update

Hmmm... Tell me please where I put my NES, SNES and N64 carts in the Wii? And where does my Gameboy/Gameboy colour cart go in the DS??

Sonys backwards compatibility is almost 100% for ALL their machines.

The only back compat Nintendo has with home console is GC to Wii, and thats not saying much considering they are basically the same machine. The best they have ever done is with GB to GBA and GBA to DS, i.e 2 generations at a time. Sony have 3 generations running in PS3.

The Euro PS3 is at about 90% now with software, each firmware update had been including a SHIT load of games and improving on ones already emulated. And when Sony says the game works, it works properly, hell even when they say it has glitches its hardly anything. MS version of "Works" is that it loads, fuck if it plays properly or not.

I own 23 PS2 games and 25 PS1 games all of them now work apart from Eyetoy Chat video window freezes and Vib Ribbon freezes on the first level. So my personal collection is nigh on 100%.

Don't worry USA, your new PS3's aren't as bad as you might think. Every major game is running fine already. And with the recent firmware upscaling, they look mighty fine too on that HDTV.

That PS3 price isn't so bad in the long run. ;) How many 360's will the average joe go through in 10 years? (jk)

Is it just me, or did EYE TOY not get mentioned at all? Especially the up coming Playstation Eye. Not a single mention, even amongst commenters here.

Rather odd.

Sony's naysayers, then and now

This is exactly as I remember it. I really thought PS2 would fail between 2000 and 2001. I remember owning a Dreamcast and thinking that this was it, Sega were going to take over. My friend had bought the PS2 and was sitting on it for 6 months with the same games (Tekken Tag and Ridge Racer V) He got fed up and sold it to fund a Game Cube in the end, and I carried on playing the DC.

The parallels are scary with PS2 and PS3

BUT this time it is harder... Sony's lucky break last gen was Sega's demise. I don't think Microsoft are going anywhere and they do seem to be in that leading position Sega were enjoying with the DC. Also, Nintendo are out the gates at the same time and selling like hot cake.

The PS3 will pick up, but will it be as successful as PS2?

Who knows. nobody in the world can predict that... never. Thats the exciting thing about the Videogames industry.

Enjoy it. Don't Bash it.

Universal responds to reports of going neutral

At the end of the day BD players are outselling HD-DVD regardless as to whether its PC/PS3/Standalone or whatever. And BD movies are outselling HD-DVD so who gives a shit about ratios and if you count player to disc adoption etc blah blah. Fact of the matter is Blu-Ray is killing HD-DVD in all areas.

Wipeout Pulse details bring sexy back to the PSP

May 8th 2007 5:15AM (Joystiq)
I've recently brought Pure out of the cupboard to play again to get my skills back up to scratch before Pulse hits. Its still a fab game. I bought it with my PSP back in Sept 05.

Looking forward to Wipeout on PS3 too! I own every single Wipeout game right back to the first on PS1(And all the soundtracks on CD that accompany the games). A bit of a Wipeout nut I guess ;)

BTW, Jared... Lumines live isnt a PSP title. Lumines and Lumines II are both WITHOUT flaws on the PSP, you get the full games when you buy them, no hidden costs. Correct your article please. Ta!
