The Vita could have been thinner, or huge, or a clamshell
Jan 28th 2012 1:16AM (Joystiq)Rumor: Next Xbox to be Windows-powered, going 'Apple route'
Nov 9th 2011 2:52PM (Joystiq)His writing is broken, but his math is fairly accurate.
The PS3 is outselling the 360 on a monthly basis and is close to overtaking the 360's total sales.
The point, though, is that Microsoft has no reason to feel comfortable. Even pushing aside the current numbers, the fact is that past performance guarantees the future.
Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale lands on PC
Jun 28th 2011 1:26PM (Joystiq)But I DON'T expect much precision . . . .
Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale lands on PC
Jun 28th 2011 1:11PM (Joystiq)Yep. And they have even released a patch for the PC version, over a week ago.
The news is that it available as a downloadable PC game now, not just retail. But I expect much precision when it comes to Joystiq.
Wii U is 1080p; has HDMI out, internal flash memory, SD and USB storage support
Jun 7th 2011 4:58PM (Joystiq)I wouldn't reveal it yet if I were them. A lot can happen even in a year, especially regarding social networking. If you've read Wiihack, then you know that Nintendo needs to re-think its idea of an OS and provide more basic libraries and security than the Wii software did.
And you can do some of that design before you nail down the hardware, but there's a lot that can change.
Hands on with the Wii U controller
Jun 7th 2011 3:51PM (Joystiq)Nintendo aims for flexible storefront with 3DS eShop, parity with other digital distribution platforms
Jun 4th 2011 11:24AM (Joystiq)And neither has Microsoft. Shopping for games on the 360 is clunky and isn't really that much better than the Wiiware or DSiware shops.
As for their other online features, they certainly have a ways to go. But even Sony, who has the online experience, still has problems. In a couple of respects, in fact, Sony's problems have made me appreciate that Nintendo doesn't store credit card information.
New Xbox 360 update incompatible with some models, MS offering replacements [update]
May 18th 2011 10:12AM (Joystiq)Aren't a lot of 3+ 360s using the Hitachi and Samsung drives? I replaced my original Xbox, and the replacement uses one of those (based on where the tray is gray or black). That seems like a lot of replacements if so.
Still, this isn't the sort of thing I'd expect if a 360 replacement were in the near future (within the next 2 years).
Conduit 2 review: More like Con-don't-do-it 2
May 4th 2011 4:46PM (Joystiq)I agree. The Conduit had issues. And HVS worked to address those issues. When you down the list of the common criticisms, HVS made a change to address each. How well they addressed them is open for discussion, but they did something you don't see that often--a dev that listens to its critics and players.
But it didn't work out nearly as well as they hoped. Why? Going point-by-point can still not get you an overall better game. (I think our feature-by-feature reviews miss that point.) Yes, their maps have more than route and are less linear. Yes, they used more locations and different textures and all that. But that's where the critics have been wrong because what matters is how well a game gives a feeling of place. Red Dead Redemption did that incredibly well, yet so does Minecraft and even to this days games like Alone in the Dark, Thief, and Quake.
It's subjective, yes, and we resort to objective things. Conduit lacks a good identity. That's why I think even games with problems like GoldenEye Wii or the noted Red Dead Redemption are still enjoyable.
Conduit 2 review: More like Con-don't-do-it 2
May 3rd 2011 10:03PM (Joystiq)If you're giving 1 star to Conduit 2, then what's left for Ninjabread Man or Balls of Fury or Too Human?
